    Macross/Robotech

I just finished re-watching the Macross Zero series. I have to say that it was a fantastic prequel to the series proper.

The style of the characters were well-done. The Backgrounds were beautiful(I especially liked the clouds in the sky). My only complaint would be that the veriteh action was paced in a way I didn't like; quick changes from super speedy to slow-motion. Also, as an animator, the veritechs sometimes didn't move naturally in battloid/guardian mode.

It just seemed to have a style all its own while retaining the feel of Robotech.

Robotech was the main inspiration for my path in life. I still remember renting that as a kid and watching volume after volume.

Are these out on DVD yet?
I heard they are making a sequel to the Robotech saga called Shadow Chronicles.

I just watched the first and second volumes. Great stuff.
Anyways, nothing compares to Macross Plus.
    Just my opinion.

Bought it but hasn't watch it yet. The VF-0's design is great. I'm liking it even more than the classic valkyrie VF-1.

It's a prequel to the original Macross tv series. (The real one, not the "Robotech" version.)

haha bringing up an old thread I missed.

Macross Zero is related to the TV series in that it takes place before the Zentreadi get there. When the SDF-1 has crashed to the Earth and a big war has begun over the technology and the search for more artifacts.

Fokker was in there, and he is also in the original Macross, plus the black guy who's name I forgot had the same last name as one of the Macross crew I think.

Other than that, no connection. Oh yeah, and the ending was pure crap.

You can say that again. And again. And again and again and again. But it was a classic Macross ending. So much buildup and then boom....anticlimax.

I also "like" how their 2 most formidable enemy in the air didn't perish under the hands of the main characters. Great design, not so great animation towards the end, and totally disappointing. So, it was a worthy Macross title and no more complaints from me

Also if anyone noticed. The VF-0 was based on the F-14 design (as we all know) and the SV-51 was based on the F-18. Which was particularly ironic because the Superhornets will completely replace the Tomcats as chief fleet defender for the US carrier groups by the end of March 2006.
