Hey man this turned out nice. There are a couple of places that could use some studies to help it out. One of those places would be the right hand. the lines that move-from the inner palm area towards the outside around the thumbs are two harsh and if you would have kept to the shading through out it may have helped. Would love to see some color on it.

Thanks for the tips Ben, I'm gonna have to make some changes. Might redraw the whole thing, not really satisfied with the current version.

Anyway, here is a quick sketch I did tonight. Finally finding my lines a little easier, so I have somewhat less of a mess on the page. I really want to make a native/fantasy inspired universe, and I guess that's where this guy came from.

Wow, looking from the beginning of this book - great improvement! The native-fantasy guy is very alive! I can see you've really come to grips with lines and rendering. Keep posting!

Love the fantasy native american figure. It sounds like a good concept if done properly. the portraiture studies are looking impressive. There are still some issues in them with the placement of eyes but it looks like your improving rapidly. the hatching work is very nicely done very controlled and smooth. good work man.

I'm really loving the variation showing up in your faces lately. I am often caught in the fatal trap of "this is how a face looks, and this is it". Your studies are unique but all very believable.

I'm curious about this native/fantasy world you are studying, and how you approach "building a world." What kind of research do you do?

Hey man I'd like to see some enviros for this setting your dreaming up. An interpretation of some myths like The Firebird and stuff like that would be cool to.

Great pencils. You are progressing very well in your anatomy and character stuff. Would love to see some more coloured pics ! Try and get a 'painterly' style going with cool textures. That would be neat.

Man you have out done your self on those last three. The bar is raising. My suggestion on legs is to not short change them. They are what will make your drawings. the posses on the last two work well. Take a look at action movies. still them and do gestures of them. you can go through a shot in slowmo and find the one image that is the climax of the movement, that one point which defines the movement. even if it's walking. there is one point that will define the step. I'm loving what you are doing here keep at it.

Agreed. And Dan, as a friend, and someone who's watched your art carefully. Yiu are DEFINATELY making major improvments. Do not lose hope.

Thanks a ton guys. It really encourages me to try harder and harder to improve when I hear nice words like yours. I would not have began working so hard had I not joined this sketchgroup. Thanks again.

Just stoping by to say, I see a lot of improvement! Dman just going back to your old book, not that those were poor, but these have better line quality, better shading and stronger concepts to them. This last one has a nice touch with leaving some of it unfinished....I just like seeing progress lines in some work.
    peace-
    Aaron

you are really coming along quickly, Dan,
I really like the guy with the relaxed Mo-hawk, his expression is so nice, in his face and body. It feels very natural.
If you focus alot on anatomy and life studies( the society of illustrators on tues. has drawing sessions) and if you bring those skills and knowledge to your characters, this will be the next big step that will make your characters really come to life.
    keep it up Dan,
by the way,are you and your girlfriend able to make it out to the painting camp this weekend? let me know. or just stop by either way. If you need to know directions, or my # just PM me, or talk to me on AIM.

Tiffany, thanks for the comments. Yeah, you're right about the anatomy, that is definitely one thing that plagues me. I feel like if I can get that down, the rest will be easier. My girlfriend has been a huge help though, posing for me lately so I can practice
