    Clay's Sketchbook

New to the Forums..actaully my first posting on the internet ever - on any bbs. Hope you like this stuff. Usually after work I'll sketch for an hour or two. It's all digital and I work in Photoshop for the most part. I'll keep posting some of the results..

These are pretty good sketches, they seem quick. I need to use photoshop to paint more in but painter is my workhorse for now. It's always good to know the capabilities of what these programs can do.

Thanks - yeah they are quick - a couple of hours on each...I get a bunch of inspiration from stuff that has 'higher energy' - ala Dan Milligan: if you haven't seen that guys work, you should check it out...

    thanks for sharing

This is my first time on this forum as well. I'm actually new to the whole forum thing, I realized that I need other people to inspire me. Anyways, you stuff is great, I like the sense of atmosphere in you landscape paintings. Very cool stuff.

Hey Clay, new to the forums to, great work, the three legged thing in your first pic reminds me of a strider from Half-Life 2, which is cool. Your anatomy and faces are very well observed, far better than mine there's a feeling of purpose in your poses which in turn shows character or at least inspires me to imagine, sweet work.

Really like your sketches - nice combination of drawing and painting.
Your men-faces always look the same .. i guess a bit too much mirror-reference in there?

Do you have any finsihed artworks, a homepage or something!?
May the colors be with you.

the tripod robot is great! and you're faces are well done...particularly i like the pic near the bottom w/ the bridge and the huts. good color composition and a nice design overall.

however the sept 19th is very poor. you need to get some reference and start again from scratch. although all the pieces are in the right place she looks very unbalanced and flatly lit.

    Cuidado! Chupacabra!

Hey Dan thanks for the critique - while she may be flatly lit, I just wanted to get the idea out - the character silhouette - nothing too refined...if she's unbalanced, then that's something for me to work on.

You have some nice looking environs in here. Also, some very interesting character design. It'll be neat to see your progression. Welcome to the org!

I enjoyed a lot looking at your drawings/paintings. My favourite has to be the september 30th post. You have a nice way of making complex things simple. See you again.
