i know what you mean. i wonder if its because you (and i for that matter) should now be focusing on details?
its an interesting piece you have though.

yeah, you know, its a good start. But concerning the brainless and focusless part... I have the same problem sometimes...
however, Ive mostly found that Ill lose interest because I didnt draw enough in the beginning, or like, I didnt know what it was that I wanted in the first place and so, the drawing never got detailed enough to warrant further painting after the stage youre at.
as in, not deciding where the light was going to be
EXACTLY what direction everything was facing, you know?
maybe layer problems too, I seem to do that alot and maybe you can relate,
I sometimes (for any number of usually silly reasons) won't keep my layers separate and so, if I want to keep drawing, I have to do it on top of the painting Ive already done and things just go downhill from there..
I dont know if you were asking for help on the situation or the painting... but theres my two cents.

jabberwookie - cheers yeah it would have been time for details to define the final direction of the piece.
4889 - cheers, what happens to me so often is when im done with the idea and can call it an ok looking sketch my mind start working on new ideas and i cant wait to have a try at those But this "painting" was very helpful and yes made me realize that having a good drawing is very importent before you start painting.
Hehe layers yeah i get them and i use them too, but so often i forget to switch it, so i paint the sky and the bull on the layers thats called "knight". I mess it up so much, get pissed, flatten the image and make 5 new layers i get confused about again lol. Heh i dont know either - i just felt like sharing a noobs experience in digipainting.
Well the bull sucked so much i just ended up doing a desaturated blop.

One thing that I do that makes me mad is before I block in the general stuff I'll start doing details. I would advise against doing so, you just loose track of what you want, real fast.
