Hello, Molly! Thank you for looking at my drawings so carefully, for thinking what and how to say your words to me. After posts of others very kind and talented artists I 'm prepared to understand your words, so I got them instantly right to my heart and mind. And they created little storm inside me.
It would be very hard for me to limit myself only with drawing hands and feet and head, but if it helps me to draw better I'll do it. I never had an opportunity to draw a model for 3-5 hours. That would be great, but right now I doubt I'll find a way to do that. I'm stuck with short poses. So I guess I need to try measuring techniques on them.
Yes, this drawing is my favorite too if I have a right to like my drawing. This and full figure nude girl standing near stand from the other post. Although I see mistakes in them.
When I was in this figure drawing classes our tutor taught us not to erase our wrong lines right away, wait till the better line is on paper. He told that in many times he saw people erase their lines and draw the same mistakes on the same place again. so I didn't practice your way.
Thank you again for your thoughtful ad thought provoking post, I'll read it many times.
    Regards, Sveta

HEHE , SVE thanks for your reply
    ...I use my sketchbook to draw hands and feet, (mainly my own) and then take this knowledge into my classes when I draw...but ya, sometimes, just doing hands and feet, you can end up with a nice composition on the page;
With gestures, try leaving the pencil on the page, not lifting it off at all, follow the figure, the shapes within the form, its movement and flow, the tones of muscles etc - it will help you understand the connections within the form, and its so much fun too..give it a go...
With regards to not wiping away first lines, hehe thats fair enough. Im used to wiping away and putting in again (ONLY with charcoal) as its such a free medium to do that in. But what your teacher is teaching you, is a good idea. IMO you will to start observing more of where you put your lines; and also, how to 'visualise' the image on the flat paper.
There are so many ways to approach drawing, its overwhelming. You WILL eventually find your own way of working that you will be comfortable with, and slowly, but surely, you will expand on that, and become skilled with what you do.

Also, try and see if you can 'borrow' a studio on the weekend (for about 6-7 hrs untutored) and hire your own model and get a few friends or people from your class to help out. I've been doing that for a few months with a few friends, and we all share the task of paying for the model. The space we have access to, because fortunately, I work in an Art school, so I can abuse when I want (hehe). But ask your tutor, see what they say.....

Hello, Molly. I'll take your advice to practice drawing my own hands and feet and the second one to use helping lines. Thank you. But with a studio. My situation is different . My friends and I are making some steps toward it, though. Thank you so much and I'm looking forward to see your update.

Hey Sve, Nice pieces even if they are older.I'm beginning to think that I could recognize your style anywhere now. 8) There are areas in your figure work that are just brilliant. I can look at a small section, especially in the color ones and see an area of tone or shading that is very well done. Sometimes, I like to look at the small details instead of the whole and find some gem. Yeah, I know, big help. How about something newer?

And since these are older works, I'm guessing that you don't want to hear too much in the way of criticism since you probably know already (the leg on the last one ).

Oh, and just to rub it in and get my revenge, on the third one, it had to be hard for her to walk with that big toe on the wrong side of her foot.

    No more Dudetta?

    Red face

Hey, madplanet, you are da man. I'm not gonna tell that it's a special breed of models in Dallas . I showed it to several people including myself, and nobody noticed anything! You are the only one! Isn't it funny!!!
Well, I'm gonna keep it for the humor sake.
Areas? Well, that's funny too .
I'm starting to think that there are something seriously wrong with my eyes. This leg didn't look that small on paper. What's the hell? Yea, I noticed that too before posting it but posted anyway. Thank you for your great finding , I'm having a ball with this one!
    What revenge?

Hey! Thanks for stopping in my sketchbook - I'm really flattered you took such a liking to the elephantswing sketch! I'll email ya a larger version soon...but the real sketch is actually about that size to be honest!

-Some really good stuff going on in here. I was going to give a crit on proportions, but it's been said already. And really...your proportions just need a minor tweaking...you aren't really that off.

Keep doing those life drawings...it's the best way to learn.
    And keep posting!

Hey, nice work there, sve. Your hands and feet are too small though - compare her face with her hand: her hand should be big enough to cover her face. Otherwise...

    Cheers!

Hey, Teigrob, I'm so glad you are back on my thread! Thank you for the comment. You're right of course. I should try and redraw it at home after studies, but I rarely do, don't feel confident enough. Do you finish your nude studies at home without models with just your imagination?!
Look to where it led me with this two left feet babe .

Hey Sveta, the latest figure drawing are looking sweet, really like the lines.
Never tried to start your figure with just straight lines, then refine? I find more helpful to measure, and to establish the estructure of the body. I think it'll benefit you in the long run, improve your eye, help you to measure more accurately. I see it a lot in the atelier drawings.
Anyways, keep up the hard work.

Hey, Diego ! Did you mean gravitation line? Or gesture lines? Our teacher did tell me to do this lines before starting to draw anything else, and strangely it did kind of help. Why it helps I don't understand, but it does. Care to elaborate more on this?
Thanks for pleasant words and for voicing your thoughts. I sure glad that you did.

Do I know this person? I think she's nice and the drawing is pretty nice, too. I like how the hair just scribbles down.
