Epson 1800 vs. cannon or hp?

Hey i've got a question about Epson printers (specifically the stylus1800): I've heard from a few birdies that the Epson printers start off well but then develop serious problems concering ink clogs and other similar defects and that it would be a waste of a nice chunk of change to invest in one. On the other hand, i've seen how the 1800 prints and its fabulous for what I need ( I would be using the printer to make prints (on nice art paper) of paintings that have been scanned into the computer and other artsy stuff like that). I guess my question is does anyone know if these problems are true and have experienced them with this or another Epson printer, or does anyone have any advice on another brand that has worked well for them and would be good for prints?

    thanks guys!!

Yeah, my 1270 developed some serious problems. Although that was after four years of frequent use. I recomend Epson over any other printer, especially for your purposes.

Do a little research and see which printer has after-market ink cartridges available. This is where you can potentially save a fortume over time as both HP and Epson make their real money from their printers on ink cartridges & accessories. This is where I buy my ink. You can start there and research other companies that sell off-brand ink cartridges.
