    Reggae anyone?

I just got my first opportunity to see John Brown's Body last night.. and man it kicked some major ass. There wasn't a huge crowd but the energy and vibe in the place was one of the highest I've felt ever. I'm still coming down off of it.

    Anyone else reggae fans?

I'll throw out a few I listen to:
    John Brown's Body
    Jah Works
    Soldiers of Jah Army
    Bob Marley (of course)
    Peter Tosh
    Steel Pulse

I am more into "roots" type stuff I guess. Dancehall doesnt do a lot for me.. unless of course its got a good message.

    oh and don't forget!
the baja men! "who let the dogs out?!"
and "mr boombastic" himself - shaggy

if that's what you mean by "new reggae" asoir, I agree... that stuff sucks. but there is good music, you just gotta dig. the stuff I listed, aside from buju banton, definitely isn't new- from the 50's, 60's...

Twinkle Brothers kick ass. Israel vibration, culture are also good roots. I used to endlessly search for the twinkle brothers in music stores, thank god for file sharing. I only ended up getting 2 of their albums, and one I bought in the U.K.

Haha, what up cody? Thats right I started a thread! Dude do people actually think that "who let the dogs out??" shit is reggae.. wtf?

Yeah good reggae is something you definitely got to dig for (why I started this thread) .. I actually feel that way about most music actually. I remember I used to have a huge prejudice against rap/hip hop -- turned out I just hadn't heard anything I had liked yet. Maybe one day someone can show me some country music worth listening to haha.

Thanks for chiming in guys, I've heard of a few of these groups but I haven't heard of a lot of them. Will have to go check them out.

If "Who let the dogs out" isn't reggea I don't know what is...lol. Personally I'm more in to Dancehall. I guess that's the club hopper/dancer in me.

that song is most definetly not reggae. it's main-stream lame ass crap.

however - reggae is dec. my aunt + cousins are totally into it. they lived in jamaica for about 2 years and know one of the top reggae artists in jamaica pretty well (my aunt's almost husband's son). i don't listen to much, but from what i've heard it's not bad.
