    To Everyone at CA

    Hi all,

This may be a little over the top though at the moment I don't care, lol, I don't expect anyone to read through all of this and don't be suprised if you see a "Last edited on.." at the end of this.

I have been searching for a very long time, I think it is very close to the same search that most artists have been on since their first sketch. That "original" idea or "unique" theme to their work which will not necessarily be used to raise their professional or public profile, but, simply, to have them mad at evolution for having to sleep in between paintings.

This week I found my quan, last week I thought I had but it was just indigestion from take out Chinese food.

The difference here is that unlike most of the CA.ogres I paint with celluloid, I am a filmmaker so this is basically like Lucas waking up in a cold sweat with the breath of Vader pounding so hard the pictures are falling off the walls.

The reason I am so excited is that I have been working on the same screenplay for just over 7 years now, since I was 18 years old. I kid you not, day and night this story has had my every waking creative breath. And just as I was about to abandon hope, about to finally put it to rest as a lie to myself.

    Last night happened.

The reason I am writing all of this is to tell each and every one of you that
with all of the struggles which come from being an artist both personally and professionally (those of you on medication, you know who you are lol ) words can not descibe what this feeling is. To know, that what you have is something incredible for yourself and for an audience.

And in my Chinese food hysteria, it occured to me, as animals who are mostly social, is that not our job, to create and share? But as of late, to me artistically, it has been augmented into: share as much as quickly as possible or you are going to be left behind. There is a line in Sin City which is still resonating in my mind.

"He was shooting too quickly, popping off his shots like they were candy instead of taking his time... and staring the Devil in the face."

So for anyone, anyone who has been feeling frustrated this year or for the past 7 years. For those of you who have been feeling as though they are simply grinding away at their creation, don't stop, DON'T EVER STOP! Because believe it or not it has been you, your continual persistance at your skill and passion which brought me to this day. If it was not for this community, no, this family and the inspiration, I can't see how this could have happened.

To everyone here, this has simply been a Thank You.

    Presence

    Alright, group hug people.

Ha, but yeah, nice sentiments and reflected back at you - I think that the journey we all take towards an unattainable peak will be the most rewarding part of our lives. I personally think if we all somehow managed to attain this goal, we'd all be like "wtf?...now what do we do?".

Here's to continued frustration and intrinsic satisfaction.

Oh yeah, I am a total advocate for open source code and sharing, this is one of the reasons CA is now my main art haunt, the societal feel in this place is awesome.

Not bashing anyone, but places like CGTalk, have imo, gotten way too commercialised and un-personalised, you go there and here and its like comparing working in a huge multi national compared to a smaller company, none of the social connections really exist, no one really knows anyone else.

Here its like a massive family with a bunch of amazing artists sharing the same canvas.

I wish more people would give up on their dreams, thereby giving me a better shot.

Yeah, I said it! It needed to be said.

But seriously, its great that you're feeling so good. And I guess its important to remind ourselves from time to time what it is we want, and how important to us it is.

Holy shit you kick ass Presence....I am currently working on at least 5 screenplays 2 in my head and 3 on my computer. All of them I am at some type of writers block i.e. scene, dialogue, plot, etc etc.....I needed to hear something like this. Thanx-James

There are so many levels to what Presence posted.

One of them....is how Chinese Food brings enlightenment.

Glad you're still having fun Presence.

either thats a very honest and moving speech, or a VERY clever advertising ploy for your upcoming film

Either way it makes me want to see it! Thanks for sharing

I actually noticed the same. Probably why I have nearly fully migrated here. Not to mention CGTalk is mostly fine tuned to 3D arts(at least 99% of the forum's sections are for 3D apps or something) and i don't do 3D as much these days.

Yeah, I rarely ever post there, except for Kimmel's anatomy stuff, she's a sweetheart and a very talented artist.
