wow dude, this last pic makes me want to be there!

your sketchbook stuff is good. love the eye from april 28th. loomis sketches are nice, but some of the look kinda stiff (though that's to be expected on anyone's page with a lot of figures). hands and feet immediately jump out at me, and the one woman looks like she implants (bottom left, may 2); maybe she does, i dunno. keep trying the dynamic poses and stuff; only way to get better at figures is, like everything else, practice. keep at it; i expect to see good things to come. take care dude, and congrats on finishing service.

purb36: thank you very much for the good feedback! Hands and feet are a known problem of me. Maybe I should practice them separately?

    Eric the Great:
thanks! You mean the sketchbook stuff, I reckon? I use a 3B Faber Castell pencil and a Canson sketchbook.

Some more Loomis sketches. Tried to build the figures with bones and muscles. Seems to be a good way to learn figure drawing to me...

Hi there, Im glad I found you skb!

The eviroments are so good that I wanna cry man,
and the cloth desings are real eye cady,
but... I seems you are avoiding drawing hands

Theres not one fleshed out had in all of this really good
looking sketchs, and this imo really hurts the quality of
you already nice work, so my suggestion is do hands studies,
    the sooner the better!!

This link helped me a lot It might be usefull to you too

I hope I get to be as good as you on desings and eviroments,
you have my deepest respect you have A class work!!

maxetormer: Thank you a lot! This is excactly the kind of feedback I needed. I knew that my hands suck but I never had really the motivation to pratise them. Thanks for the link, the tutorial is great!

I worked a bit on the previous sketch:

Yeah I kinda would like to know more about how do
you study landscapes, I mean any tips would be asum,
and yeah I know that the true secret is practice and motivation
    no mistery there.
But still I would be cool if you had any extra ideas.

See ya later your SKB is one hell of an inspiration,
Im glad you liked the critics you can count on them he he.

loving your sense of ight in your environmental speed paints!!

any chance of an animated gif wip? love to see how you build these up...

do you start with photos or just plonk down the base colours on to a blank canvas.

really enjoyable work... looking forward to more from you!

KenDeathwalker: hmm, that's a tough question coz I haven't really studied anything specifical. I don't like life drawing that much since it's quite disappointing if the result doesn't look like reality. And if it's actually correct it mostly looks just flat and not three dimensional. Same goes generally for painting from ref. Instead, I prefer to try to UNDERSTAND how the light works and then applying this knowledge to my imaginary images.
Basically it's nothing other than executing a basic light model. A big help to understand this better for me was Loomis' book "Creative Illustration". It's worth every minute you read in it, really! Hope this helps a bit.

    maxetorner:
thanks a lot, dude!! Have you seen this little step-by-step I did some weeks ago? link
Shows pretty good how I generally work. You said it right as disappointing it might be, there is indeed no real mystery. It's really nothing else than understanding this ONE lighting model. By the way, have you seen the crappy hands in this one??? Well, at least I gave them a try

cakeypigdog: thank you very much! Do you already know this? link

    Doyle': thanks a lot, bro!

Love your enviros. Great and dense atmosphere. They have a postcard-flair at times though. Makes me miss some story/ action/ focus of interest...
Figures have very lenghened limbs (specially legs) and smal Head I'd say.
    Keep em coming...

Thanks blacky! I know what you mean with the postcard effect. I guess the main problem is the lack of a foreground in most of the enviros. I always draw only the middle and the background, which is bad
Well I'll try my best in the next one but before a little head/skintone/hair/whatever pracise:

Someone told me that I make similar enviroments to yours so I visited your sketchbook... and I was blasted off the chair by the atmosphere .

yeah, you have your own style... appreciate that
I wish you luck in finding new shapes in those enviroments

P.S. do something with faces... they look too flat... some contrast on edges?

    cheers

Hey, I like what I see so far!

Id have to say your environments are awesome, however your figures, while nicely rendered, are very stiff. They need more fluidness! aside from anatomy issues others have pointed out, that is all I have to add!

    Keep it up mate!
