I do not have a scanner, so i took this picture with my cell phone so the quality sucks, but it's just a pic from a Hand project i had to do last year:
The top hand is supose to be doing white charcole, and the bottom hand is supose to be drawing. Some of the photo is obviously cut off, sorry for the crappy quality. This was done sophomore year of high school when i was 15.
This is the reference picture http://tnisloray.hyperchat.com/ifrit.jpg, it's ifrit from final fantasy (if anybody plays the games they would probally notice that). I had 2 pictures of that pic, the color'd computer one, and a hand drawn one to get values and stuff.
The annatomy on the hands are kinda off, but i had to draw my own hands, while they were drawing, so it was kinda difficult, if i dont have enough problems drawing hands already. The whole thing is hand drawn, with no aids (like light machine or anything of that sort).
so yea, i'm done... Any pointers and what not would be much appreciated. I know i'm not as good as most of you... but maybe one day... hopefully, i will become zee arteeeszt.
i just don't understand why you sketch your "painting process"?
that truely made the image less persuasive.
maybe purely making a imitation will be even better.
try to make a painting of your own, that will help to make progress.
May force be with you!
Its a cool idea with the hands and all.. I understand what problems you might have when using your drawing hand as a reference. Its possible to train ones visual memory, so that you remember what you see easier. You can read more about the methods of one Horace Lecoq de Boisbaudran here.
Its a very interesting read, and i have tried some of his methods. It has helped me quite a bit.
