This thread rocks! Here's a couple of my favorite Caravaggio paintings: The Taking of Christ and The Calling of St. Matthew. The best quality I could find.

Phil Hale has crazy delicious skills. I love that Swamp Thing painting!

Here are just a few (I'm sure the artists have been mentioned, but these specific images are what play muse to me.)

Steph, those are sweet, they're like a progression of what Hokusai and the other great Japanese print dudes were up to.

    Very nice.

Edit: seems a shame to post in this thread and not add a picture so here's a Boldini study that I thought was rather groovy..

    Honore Daumier - Ecce Homo.
Don't know exactly why but every time I look at this painting, it makes impression on me. It feels like something big is happening.

Aalbaich's work was the first to give me inspiration into drawing back in 2003, he is very tallented, shame he doesn't do any new artworks but his old work is the best.

I don't have time to post every single image on Lorenzo Mariana's website, but here's a link:

The only guy who's ever inspired me to draw.
I'm usually inspired by stuff I'd like to be able to make and this is the excact style I'm going for & he's perfected it so all I can do is hope I have what it takes to get to the same level, I find his work just fantastic.
