I like the loose rendering. But, to me the tighter detail in the face and hands stands out too much. The contrast is too pronounced.
All that aside, I think it's a good piece. I'm digging the pose and confident flowing brushwork.

right on! killer nose, great colors, hands/claws seem a bit awkward to me,
I like the more "wolf "like as opposed to "human" werewolf designes so kudos!

You can feel the blood thirsty anger in him.

Very cool. I especially love the hands. For the most part, I really like your stylistic rendering of the fur but in some areas it detracts a bit from the wolfs form. Mostly it's just the legs and torso that seem to lack articulation. It's really only noticeable when you compare it to the incredible amount of attention you paid to the hands and face.
Don't get me wrong. I love this piece.

I love that face. It belongs on a motorcycle gas tank or something.

the face is gorgeous but the ultra bright colors really contradict the nature of this beast and to me it reduces all rage effects to amost nothing. Also, why did you choose to put it's tail between it's legs? it's a sign of submission and fear in the canine world.

Summer Pudding : Thanks! I wish I had seen your avatar as some reference before I drew this=) yeah, I got kind of lazy on bringing the rendering detail up across the board, just stopping on the face and hands. I'll probably revisit the fur, sooo tedious though...=)
Badger : thanks for the feedback, yeah I see the inconsistancy in it now.
melvin : thanks! yeah, I think he needs to go back under the wacom pen for a bit.
NOOSE : Yeah, I did a couple sketches first and without the long neck he kind of looked like a dude with a wolfhead. I dig the more "underworld" looking werewolfs way more.
Mort : Thanks! I may have to do a couple of different fur colors. good idea!=)
Optix : Thanks! I struggled with that aspect, glad you like him!
Exo : Hmmm...good point, I think I could put some pronouced ribbs in there.
Gilead : lol, yeah I guess he has that look.
Matt Smith : oooo. good idea, I'll have to get some spittle in there.
possessed : yeah, I got that same feedback on another forum. I think your right, the color is a bit to much. The tail...was purely for composition, just wanted to lead the eye back into the center, but yeah, it sort of looks submissive. I had him with out the tail and he looked like he was taking a crap. doh. Lose lose I that one.

I love the look of it--great design. As a werewolf fan, I'm impressed.
Honestly, the contrast between the highly defined face and claws as compared to the body really didn't bother me any at first, but now I'm curious to see what it would look like if more developed.
Anyway, beautiful pic!
