there will be a live painting "jam session"
at the Society of Illustrators, nyc
6 artists will produce dozens of paintings... collaboratively!
each person working over/on top of the other's.

Society of Illustrators Student Scholarship Fund!
every year the s.i. Student Scholarship Fund donates tens of thousands of dollars to art students all across the country.
possibly there are people here who have won it before!
this event will tie in with Spectrum: The Exhibition
(thats the day before, also not to be missed!)
artsits are flying in from all over for this...
so if you live anywhere near NYC, i expect you there!

Wow!! Is there any information on how to get there and where to stay... you have to pay to get in and are there only so many tickets avaible?
If I win the lottery... I'll be there with bells on or something... otherwise I'm going to go sit in a corner and rock back and forth.
Sounds awesome, and a rare thing to get to witness.
Don't forget to read the stickied FAQ's before posting
well, you can visit:
for more info on directions.
as to where to stay...
N.Y. is pricy.
best bet is to split a room with someone, or to crash at a friends.
donato is throwing a pajama party! everyones invited!
Dan you know i'm there dude....
BTW i saw that Ali G skit, with Steve...i was cracking up because you did it soo perfectly...
There will be three easels going at once. 6 artists swapping in and out.Originally Posted by Lord Blue

I'm probably going to be one of a billion people saying this but AUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH!
Damn, I wish I still lived in NY. That sounds freakin' awesome.

Sounds cool. Gregory Manchess is one of my absolute favs.
I don't think i can get to NYC that day though. too bad.
Man, I gotta get to that. Sound awesome.
the Spectrum Exhibition opening is only for the contributing artists, correct?
one day I'll just pack my bags and move to this damn "new york city"...
MORE INSANE STUFF LIKE THIS! > IN EUROPE!! ..
i hope someone takes pictures and puts em up on here
I just got a reply back saying the tickets are 30$?
is that true? The poster says 10$ for students and 20$ for non-students.
reply from who?
you might be confusing this with the spectrum exhibit.
that exhibit is free,
though, the opening reception for the exhibit is $30 a head.
(thats for food & stuff)
thats the day before this.
this one is indeed $10 for students.
I am in there like swim wear!! *Puts goggles on and takes a dip!!!!*
So basically we have to be there like a 10:30am in order to get a seat right???! What time the SOI open that day??? Maybe we can get tickets earlier then come back???
Dan- What time are you planning on being there???
Man Im more siked about this then the TD.. Its like comparing pepto bismal to Ben and Jerry's Making Whoppie( chocolate ice cream with chocolate brownie and marshmellows....) uuuuuuuuuummmm yummy!!!
Mainloop- man i must be dyslexic.. cuz i thought you asked how many people are on lsd
Word of warning: Spectrum tickets are only for contributing artists. Sorry about that. It's only because of space issues.Originally Posted by DSillustration
The ART OUT LOUD event is open to all, first come, first serve. $10.00 students. 20.00 non students. It's a fund raiser for the Society's Student scholarship fund, so feel good about ponying up.
the reply didn't say who it was. I guess whoever it was confused as to what I was asking for.
but thanks for the clearification!
I'll be sure to get to NYC bright and early Saturday the 10th!
Stylistically, it's a pretty strange mix...which makes it all the more interesting. (Although I have threatened to keep a "time-out" corner. )Originally Posted by Poshspice

That's awesome, Dan. Pure powerhouse line-up. I'm taking the next flight to NY right this minute!
Yeah I wish
You guys have all the fun in New York. My aging aunt did offer me to move in her house...I need to pack up and move there someday.
Everyone's in for a treat indeed. Have fun y'all!
wow, awesome lineup. i'm definately going to try to make the trip to see this.
I'm working too fast. I should have been clearer about this.Originally Posted by Irene Gallo
The opening reception is by invite only. THE RUN OF THE EXHIBIT IS FREE. Come early and come often! The best way to have more shows like Spectrum is to see the place crowded each day.
I'm definitely gonna do my best to get to this. Sounds awesome.
