Oh man, imagine Goro with one of those things. That would rock about as hard as anything can rock.

FYI Michael Angelo is his name.

I feel like this is the first time some of you guys have seen anything like that.

Check out Steve Vai and his three neck guitar.

rusty cooley is the man, i forgot all about him. Anyone who can play sweeps that fast, let alone on an 8 string, is pretty much guitar lord. Sure, he may be a tool, but it sounds incredible.

i think there is a fine line between being good at guitar and being a guitar athlete like this guy, all hes doing is playing typical scales and modes, just with shit loads of gain and dis. thats why people like jimi hendrix, george harrison, lou reed, those guys will never be touched as far as ability.

    Lightbulb

Michael Angelo Batio is a tool - he's "technically" excellent (loads of awesome guitarists have said his picking technique is pretty much flawless) ... but he can't make "music".

Steve Vai and Joe Satriani are also technically excellent, but now and then they actually pull some real songwriting out of the hat (although often ruin it with pointless show-off soloing which really doesn't fit the piece)... now and then it all just fits and is excellent, though.

John Petrucci is an excellent example of how to actually play mind-bogglingly fast and still have the solo make sense with the music.

I advise you all to check out Guthrie Govan - he plays in Asia (the band, not the continent), which is kinda weird... but he really knows what he's doing, and has a great sense of musicality.

Then again there's always Vai's silly triple-necked heart guitar:
    The double guitar

Check this out too - some crazy luthier went and built the guitar off the cover off Vai's "Ultra Zone" album - it looks AWESOME!

But yeah, his triple-necked white Ibanez is all kinds of cool... I saw him play it last December at G3, it's really just showing off, but he does it so well!

    Fun stuff
