    Good job blocking in the tones, you're focusing on shapes instead of lines that's a good thing. But I don't care for that white outline on the second one. It doesn't do anything.
    These are very middle and dark value which is fine, but there should be a small amount of light value in there somewhere to make these pop out and look finished; highlights on the nose and chin, rim lighting on one side, something.

    thanks for the crit. your right, i'm very conservative with my values, and i don't lay in any bright planes or hilights. perhaps that will come with confidence through practice.

    anywho, another value study, not to complete finish but far enough to where one get the idea of whats going on (i hope). anatomy is very wonky around shoulder but i can't finger it. added small hilights on this one too, but still was very conservative about it.
