Man, are you runing for mayor in Nudity City?!?! because you got my vote!!! Great work, I almost thought that one of your drawings is a picture (the one you said it was in your "to draw" folder for a while) I see that you have no problem with expressive faces (I notice that after scroling five times through your work). Keep it up! Maybe you could take a look at my sketchbook sometimes (It's not that great and I could use some pointers). Hope to here from you soon!

Thanks, bhanu. I agree that the sequential work is rather stiff, especially the 'XI' stuff. We went for a very naive look as was the clients request. As for the thumbnails in MY book, without seeming as though I am making excuses, I believe the more fleshed out pages will prove more visually pleasing. The story is very "Hitchcokian", so it will be less superhero or dynamic.

    Thanks again!

genegulescu: I didn't see your reply when I responded to bhanu. My apologies. Thank you, I will visit your thread. And I do tend to enjoy the nude figure.

Ooh yea that Rogue one is creepy! I love it. ; )

Maybe you've mentioned this before (I may have asked already) but what program(s) do you primarily use? Do you sketch/ink right in the program, or do you scan in?

    Thanks, Bear-medicine!

Bad Brownie: Cool, glad like the Rouge piece.

I primarily color in photoshop from scanned pencils. Though, now I am dabbling with Mirage from Bauhaus software. Hopefully, I'll be posting some results from that program once I feel a little more confident with it. It works best with a Cintiq tablet which is my next big expense.

Hey, funny that, I am dabbling with Mirage too (as soon as the software arrives)! Isn't it a great tool (well...can't you tell it will totally rock once we get the hang of it)? Hehe. I am also saving up for a Cintique. ; ) You will have to keep me updated with your progress, and we'll have to share tips and tricks, etc. if we find 'em. I first started playing with Mirage last summer, I did the trial version and some tutorials. I am very interested in its animation possibilities. As for the Cintique, my cousin's husband (would he be my uncle then?) is a professional animator/character artist/storyboarder and so he got one...he let me play with it, and I'm sure I don't even need to describe that experience for you...::drools::

It was a little squeaky on it's turny thingie though. ; )

Well good for you, a very worthy project. Good luck with that and, as always, keep posting. = P

Thanks for the advise, I should start concentrating on anatomy and real live studies. Anyway, nice update on your sketchbook, I like your last posted drawing... in a way. Hope to see more,!

I love your stuff. I think your pencil work is really nice. I'm not too crazy about the traditional black ink comic book finish over it though.

Have you thought about something lighter that would preserve a lot of the feel of your pencils. Something like Massimiliano Frezzato's comic work.

    Look forward to seeing more!

Orozc0: Thanks. Glad you like either way.

Artguy: I know what you mean about the black inked stuff, it really isn't my favorite approach anyway. And believe me, if I had the talent and patience to do work like Massimiliano Frezzato's comic work, I'd do it. My personal comic approach for my graphic novel will be more like these:
    http://www.trubalcava.com/sketchbook/Page_Treatment.jpg
    http://www.trubalcava.com/sketchbook/Home_open02.jpg
Hopefully it will save me some time not having to do so much rendering.

T-Raktor: More coming soon my friend, thanks for the encouragement!

genegulescu: Thanks and I'm sure you'll enjoy doing the life studies and benefit greatly.

Thank you, kind sir. I'm always afraid to get too heavy-handed with the blacks when I do this comic style.

Here's some landscape work in photoshop. One from a couple of years ago. Based on photos, I took some liberties to combine elements.

This one I recently started. Bare with me on this one, here's the rough progression so far:

I'll finish this one up soon. It's all in layers in this form of progression, but I'll take feed back in the meantime.

And lastly...a sketch I did while on a hike in Utah.

Thanks neoknocker. Naughty and provocative is indeed the controversy. I try not to be overtly pornographic in any of my work, altough I admit that the 'Vista Point' piece closely teeters on the edge.

Another quick update with a charcter design from my graphic novel...

    nice drawings!
I don't like your last painting that much. It's mainly that the stone texture doesn't feel like stone. Additionally, when you look at the values of the painting, you'll see that there is a lot you can do to improve the composition.

post some more of those sketches!

Good observations, Zaknafain. I will keep that in mind for the next landscape I do. And I'm glad you enjoy the sketches, I too like seeing the raw approach to peoples' work.

ns_sunilkumar: Yeah I could be missing out on practicing more subject matter as opposed to drawing women all the time. Thanks for the kind comments.

    Thank you, Darktwin.

Some additions from my graphic novel. Studies of the real estate lady and a swimsuit model and a panel of the other protagonist from the book.

women women women... and all well drawn!

i have to say, i really like your work. (women or no!) the woman in furry boots on page 3 is one of my favorites. i think its just cause we have those boots here in japan and the outfits they wear them with here dont quite match as well as what you have in the picture.

any suggestions on faces? yours are great and its something i really struggle with. (well i struggle with it all... but anyway.)

    I will definitely be back!
