TABULA RASA E3 poster and suff
Hey CA been awhile...
Really sorry I haven't posted, it's the same old excuse "no time".
Just wanted you all to know I'm alive and kicking. Since I've made the big switch to a full time gig with NCsoft LA from freelancing it's been work non-stop. I'm doing more Art directing now but also concepting. I'm enjoying myself working with some talented people like Kevin Chen, Hong Ly and Khang Le, John Mueller (NCSOFT Austin) and other great artist.
At the moment I'm working on Tabula Rasa, but as you know can't show you the goods till NCSOFT releases the stuff.
However, I can show you the E3 poster I did for them with a little help from Kevin Chen, Paul Christopher and Anthony Francisco. Much of this was tedious freehand painting with a little 3d rendering for support but not much. It was kinda crazy seeing it printed so big at their booth, if any of you picked up the ncsoft shopping bag, I was with you in spirit as well, since they used the girl I painted for that as well.
Below the poster is my own work, quick dirty stuff, had fun. Hope you all can forgive me for not posting, 2005 so far has been nuts but great fun.

Very cool. Loads of detail in that poster. The second piece of the alien monster thingy is my favorite, cool design, great atmosphere and emotion coming from his pose.
The poster has too much going on for my taste, I'm not sure where to look, everything is very detailed, but I guess that's the purpose of a poster like that too, to give an impression of multiple facets of the game in one piece.
3rd piece: it's very rough, like you said. The character is clear enough, but I had to look at it a while before I noticed how the shape of the building behind him were working. Tiny bit more contrast/light would make it clearer.
Last piece, no crits really, I like it, works for establising the shot and basic architecture, lighting and general feel.

I really like the second piece, it has a lot of flow. Somehow you can feel the fun of painting when looking at it. I also like the concept and the colors.
The first piece is a bit over crowded. Also the colorssceme is weak compared with the others.

Well damn Targete!
Looks like 2005 has been a helluva year for you. I'm really diggin' the personal works. The huge poster is a liiiittle too rendered for my tastes, and there are a couple anatomical issues, but whatever, it's minor and nothing to worry about. But yeah, your personal works man... you've come a long way this year, seriously. The value grouping in those is really top notch... the best I've seen you do actually. I'm especially diggin' that off-white creature-robot... thing. He's friggin' cool, and I loooove the coloring! I'm really diggin' the lighting on that warrior guy. The limited pallette is great. And the city scape, man, really nice silouhettes and atmosphere! I know we've had our... arguments in the past, but you're rockin' it now man. Props to you.

Fantastic! I hadn't seen your work here in some time. The poster is really great, but I think it would look even better with just the babe in it. The detail really shows the hours you must've invested in it. Your quick sketches (how the hell can you call them quick?) are friggin' aweome, too. I also checked out the links ShadeofDawn posted, and some of them really look like your work...if they are...they're brilliant, too.
Thanks for posting.

I've seen your work posted here before and it's always pretty amazing but I stumbled across a book about you in my local library yesterday (which was pretty surprising cause I was looking for books on Caravaggio and they hardly had any on him) and yeah- the stuff you were doing at 12 and 13 years old was amazing for your age.
How'd you get to such a level at that age (like that barbarian dude you drew at 12?) I suppose I could go and borrow the book and find out next time i'm down there...
Anyway, the poster one is great- these ones that look like they were done in Painter have a distinctively different feel to the ones you did using an airbrush- i prefer these ones i think.

welcome back buddy, don't be a stranger
nice batch of new work, too! the only thing that jumps out at me is that the middle section of the chick's raygun is a little too open, I read the end of the gun as a spaceship at first.
