    HTML help... for portfolio site

    Okay.. so I want to know how to make the image open in a sized window w/ the picture you click on..

    like let's say you have a thumbnail...
    you click it and a new window pops up w/ that picture w/ the correct size of the window?

    Also how do u make it so when u click on it, it closes...

    javascript...there must be hundreds of tutorials on this...just google and you'll find it.

    ...and there are probably just as many different solutions as there are tutorials. I would say create a php page for the popup so you don't have to create hundreds of html pages where the only difference is the file used for the image.

    Go get Dreamweaver, and all those little options are just a few clicks away.

    I do a certain amount of web design so I know some javascript.

    Here is the basic coding you need to do this.

    This is just a simple page but the coding will be the same for what you need.

    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Untitled Document</title>
    - Standard html for a basic page.

    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/JavaScript">
    <!--
    function MM_openBrWindow(theURL,winName,features) { //v2.0
    window.open(theURL,winName,features);
    }
    //-->
    </script>
    - The main coding that does the work. You shouldn't need to change this. Also you should only need to put this in once.

    </head>

    <body>

    <a href="javascript:;" onMouseDown="MM_openBrWindow('file:insert image link here','insert window name here','width=insert width of window here,height=insert height here')"><img src="file:insert thumbnail link here" width="insert thumbnail width here" height="insert thumbnail height here" border="0"></a> - The specific coding for the link and pop up image. You will need to repeat this block of code for each thumbnail and pop up image.

    </body>
    </html>
    - The rest of the standard html

    If you get all the links to your image files right this should work. I hope this helps.

    Have faith, these things should never be easy.
