Dougbots Craptacula Sketchbook
Alrighty, as my daughter gets older I'm finding more time to doodle. Don't get me wrong, she comes first, but i need to start trying again. I feel like my stuff has become stagnant, boring, lame, useless....
So decided to sketch more, traditionally and digitally. With the hopes that I'll get better.
Of course, with a kid, wife, freelance, job, and hour commute, we'll see how often I actually post .gif)
All quickies, trying to work looser:

for thumbnail...

holy shit - beautiful work. The looseness is working for ya.
I absolutely love the 3rd image. Who thought a giant freak-blob could be so pretty.
I totally understand the difficulties of having a kid and wife. That 'solo' time is all eaten up...I got a lil' boy myself. On the other hand, I've never been so motivated - those cute baby eyes can make you do anything.
cheers mate

Have to poke in and say that air.jpg (3rd one down) is just beautiful to me. The lighting on it really creats a sense of... well, peace and floating, and morning... those weren't the words I expected to come out.

hey fuckface thanks for telling me about this (by this i mean you not telling me about this and me finding this randomly at some ungodly hour in the morning).
beautiful man, that third one from the top is some your best work.

Dougbot, great stuff! I really like the cloud one, the way its painted, the colors, the presentation, the design for the creature. This one would have fitted the COW Cloud Dweller round perfectly.
Thumbs up man : )

Amazing work, keep posting!

Your third pic of the flying fish is just inspiring. love the way you handled the lighting.
-
-
Oh my god, I'm in love with your flying fish-monster-thing! It's like the coolest thing I've ever seen! Sooo inspiring, man

Hey thanks everybody. I think I should point out that the flying slugfish thing's background is a couple of photos I combined and then painted over. The slug (lame part) is all me though
I did learn a lot from that one though, I think I do better skies and clouds now.
Can't comment on everything said, but I do appreciate it. Thanks again!
Genital Eclipse--...but just not day 1 material? Thanks for the backhanded compliment jerk.....I secretly love you.
prostate sunrise--I figured since you left me we didn't have to share everything with eachother anymore. Where are you at this ungodly hour? You're with him aren't you...with Flaptraps....sniffle...
bRØk3n_sPiRiT--The original sketch was for the cloud dweller. I never finished it though, so I pulled it out the other day and worked on it. Glad people seem to like.
So I have to say, the reason for trying this agian (sketchbook) is because of the amazing talent I see daily on this site, and the amazing talent I work with. Working along side Xiaman, Prostate Sunrise, Flaptraps, Genital Eclipse, ABC, Stokes, and a slew of others who don't post, makes you really want to try harder.
If you could only see what Flaptraps, Gen, and Sunrise can't show because of NDA's you'd be amazed. Even more so, the sketches laying around their desks, like Stokes' naked lady cup. I see this stuff and can't help but feel..."shit...I used to do stuff like that."
I won't even go into Daniel Docui, every piece he does makes me want to hang up the ol' wacom and become a baker.
So I'm at a point where my art has become stagnant. Not really growing. Hopefully with these exercises, and advice from you all, my stuff will get better. My daughters future college education depends on it.
