Thread: Dougbots Craptacula Sketchbook
January 9th, 2007 #211
A quick fun thing, almost a sketch, maybe a little bit more. Started with a work concept that was rejected. Changed it...a lot. Obviously inspired by Phil Hale, though no where near his quality. I've always loved that blue sky of his. Still trying to improve, feel like this is going in the right direction, just not there yet. Might do some more.....later....maybe. Done in Painter 4-5 hours.

You're art is brilliant. What strikes me is the concept/ideas behind the picture. The boy with the slingshot is my favourite, for the concept and also for the colours. I really like this style, it's very beautiful. The sort of stuff I want hanging on my wall fo' sure.

Hey Doug. I like this one alot. The way you handled the blue background, and creating good focus with the outlines of the robot. Very nice.
I guess the guy didn't get as much attention as the robot. But that's understandable. The orange works quite well, and the way you used the saturation to give depth to the image.
Well done Doug.

wow your concepts are just plain cool. There is a certain style to the coloring that really brings them alive. My favorite has to be the piece you did for halloween. The pumpkin dude is just so darn bad ass. Please keep posting this stuff.

Love it how you give your paintings texture using just brush strokes.
I like the second version of "goliath and david" piece from this post - david facing goliath works better composition-wise IMO. Also like the idea of them both being robots
