Hey thanks all! The brush pen stuff has been really really fun. Feeling a bit like my old self again. Been years really. The Pen is a Pentel color brush FR #101, and has a lot of Japanese writing in the instructions. Hope that helps, and thanks again.

I just ordered my "magically make me a masterful artist pen". I don't really think it'll help, but I haven't been doing much ink-work because I've been frustrated by the tools available to me. Ball-point pens don't quite cut it, in my opinion. Your work looks AMAZING though, Dougbot. You've become one of my great inspirations.

A couple of quickies maybe 2 hours for both, actually, maybe almost 3. Work in tiny ten minute chunks lately (between family and work, not much time).

One is Ava Jaymes Cipriani, who past away last month. There's more on it at my blog: http://dougblot.blogspot.com/ You can help her parents out by purchasing this shirt: http://www.70star7.com/product.php?II=183

The other was for a theme, desert on sketchwich. It's a war deity being lead to the battlefield by platinum woven ropes.

There arent enough words of comfort in the world to ease their pain or hands enough to bear it away. Nonetheless, i offer my sincerest condolences and heartfelt wishes of sympathy to her family and loved ones.

Wow thanks all. Been really busy lately and...oh fuck, why lie. I got a Wii for my birthday and have spent most of my usual art time playing it. Go Paper Mario go!

    Some recent stuff.

A quick tut. Not that I should be giving them, but oh well....

1.Using a pencil in Painter, I loosely layout the head. This is the step that I personally think is the best. The most 'life' is found here.

2.Now I use the broad water brush under the digital water colors menu. This is basically the under painting. It's also going to be the last step before I kill the piece.

    3. Using soft vine charcoal I lay in more opaque colors and define shapes a little better. Presto, a zombie head.
