well fuckin ay....theres a few new ones there i havent seen and there bloody right up there bro,...i can fully see you starting a new wave of artists over here because yeah it has been nothing but abstract style works over here for ages, only goldie comes to mind for realism type of works in NZ,but that old bugger was painting back in the early 1900`s..lol..bring us into 2000 luke..

yeah, ive just started some new stuff, ill send em over when there finished bro.some of those sketches sparked a few ideas...Ive just got some job oppitunites from the boss but yeah expect me at the doorstep anyday bro with a nice big bottle of jack D`s in hand

    paintings

    Lukias,

Those paintings are a great start and to see the development from your first to latest shows your drive to master them...they are fun arnt they? once you get total control, the skies the limit.

Keep painting from life because the knowledge you gain of color will help you when you you tackle non refrenced stuff..I'm anticipating that..but I wont hurry you to much.

Its to bad NZ doesnt have more reaslistic art or illustration..though I'm sure their are some companies in need of concept art but pursue what your heart tells you to.

    peace man

    JP

    thanks dude!
I like the french girl and the drawing is fuckin' amazing. I think it shows that once you kick the reference to the curb the magic happens. Part of the reason i like your work so much is the imaginative and elaborate imagery. Allot of fantasy/concept art is very similar, I think you strike on something completely unique.
show the "abstract artist" something REALLY abstract.
    amazing, thanks again.

heh, i know what you mean about washing out your brushes more, until recently for me, whenever i would paint it was like i was slapping down different shades of mud onto my canvas. but i discovered the magic of mixing with a palette knife (the bent kind, not the srraight kind) and all my problems have been pretty much solved. i also try to keep track of which brush i use for which general color area (one for reds/purples/oranges one for blues/blacks/greens etc.) that helps me out a lot.
but how long have you been painting for? i must say although your color gets muddy in spots the renering is still beautiful none the less.

oh, and that last drawing, (with the photo on the grass) for the first couple moments i SWORE those were real separate sheets of paper on there, VERY NICE WORK man

well! you are too freakin' cool!

i am not sure what o say except you have left me thrilled and deflated all at once. every once in a blue moon i make a drawing that gives me a thrill but ever, EVERY, one of yours gives me that and more.

what i would pay allot of money for would be a book of your drawings.

see how many people here would pay $40-$50 for a book of your work and self publish. for those of you that think that is high price, it's not for a limited addition and just think you could cuddle up with it at night.

    Question Question

LUKIAS: Can you write how long you sit on those pencil sketches by your next postings please? Or maybe refering to some of your others in the thread.

It would be nice to see how long it takes you and compare this to the own sketches...

    Thanks,

    Chris

Ya think?? Super duper nifty you think so mate, would feel a little strange putting the question out there mind you... I think I'll PM you.. now you've put yourself at the receiving end of my questioning. Oo arr.
(The words 'Limited edition' make me shudder like a priest in a room full of alter boys)

Chris Noeth- hmm.. well it varies man.. plus now more than before I'm sporadic.. I leave some and go back to them say, a day, a week, a month later. Really random now. Lets say 4 hours a page give or take, alot.
    Cheers

That last page of stuff is really, really hitting hard dude. I'm pumped, have to go draw. Dare I say you're improving before our eyes?
Nothing else to say, lots of feeling in that last batch, very inspiring.

/me jumps on the praise bandwagon

You have an amazingly creative imagination. Your costume/clothing designs are just top-notch. Everytime I see your stuff I am inspired and envious. And do I even need to mention your technical ability? No. I don't.

The fact that you don't have a website is a crime. You, sir, should be arrested.

I am weeping... How do you draw the human figure so beautifully from imagination...?

I hope someday, somehow, I'll have skills like yours, truly amazing.

Your work is astounding, especially your creature designs. Why your status hasn't been elevated to 'Professional' is a mystery to me.

the 'professional' tag isnt a status. You dont get it just for having good artworks. You need to be professionally employed and meet various other criterion. Im not sure if lukias is officially employed but if not, that would explain it.

And i think hes awol cos hes from new zealand van, its the only explanation!
