    Your Inspiration?

Everybody on here is an artist in some way or form. My question to everyone is: What inspires you? What is it about art that keeps you into it and that fuels whatever it is you create? In other words, why do you make art?

For me, it's a mix of a few different things. Firstly, I love art. Always have! I love the ability to freely express through image. Even if its not my own work, I like to see and feel other people's art.

Secondly, my position in my family. I'm the second youngest out of 6. My oldest brother I've only know for about 4 years. My oldest sister was the image of perfection. Gifted, straight A student, had a job at my age, had a car, never got into trouble, went to PennState, fell in love, got married, has own house, works from home 4 days a week. Yeah...ugh. My older brother and sister are pretty much wastes. My sister got kicked out of Pittsburg University and lives in North Carolina with her boyfriend. (And without my parents blessings.) She's an all-around headache. My older brother is even worse...Never got into college. Is 21 and has only been legally able to drive for 2 years since getting his liscense when he was 16. His current situation is a whole lot of shit about getting drunk, stealing a car, then crashing it...while already on probation. Oh, and he has diabetes, too. Just to make things all the better. Finally, my little brother, the baby of the family. 'nuff said. That leaves me. Sort of in the middle, sort of not. My parents want me to be their redemption child...to make up for my older brother and sister. I, of course, want none of that. So I turned to art...it helps to be able to get away from the family life and be who I want to be and be able to express things as I see them.

Thirdly, I'm seriously not that great at anything else. I'm a terrible math student. The only other thing I have going for me is writing skills. My english teachers keep trying to push me to go into some sort of writing career.

But mostly, I think I draw my inspiration from what I see around me. I want to be able to fully express the world as I see it. Each photograph I take, I try my best to part emotion into it. I see many photographers that take a picture of...let's say a tree...just for the sake of a picture of a tree. There's very little art about it. So I try and put emotion, put feeling, into the picture.

    How 'bout you?
"Life isn't how many breaths you take, it's the moments that take your breath away."

I truly am inspired by my surroundings and things that happen in my life, but the reason I create is because I feel like God gave me my talent to use for Him. I feel I have a mission in life to give back what He has given me in many ways, and alot of my thought process is dictated on how I think my artwork will effect peoples lives, and I want that to be for the best. That's what gives my work true meaning, the message behind it and the way it might inspire others in their lives.
It's actually pretty cool alot of the imagery the Bible has in it, and I found you can get alot of cool concepts from it.

inspiration I get comes from imagination from others mostly. I see what other people come up with and I say to myself, that would be awsome if I made something like that, if you follow me. Like Starwars, when I see it, it makes me want to create a Space Opera of my own.

Books are also a good source of inspiration for me.

The ability to put my ideas on paper, makes me strive to be better.

Everything I have ever seen, done or heard inspires me. I''ve always been like that. If I hadn't become an artist, I would have become a mental patient living permanently in a fantasy world...or maybe what people call a terrorist now...

I think, all in all, things worked out just fine for me...and everybody else...

Anything from comicbook, to film to music to art and thought. Even the weirdest and most mundane objects can inspire you depending on mood, situation or mindset.Even words, said incorrectly or correctly could inspire on a great level.

I get my inspiration from knowing what I dont want my life to be which is cut and dry, you know you follow certain steps things fall in line. I even try harder with my art due to troubles I have had over the last few years with INS/homeland security and family issues. I am inspired by how different people tell me I am, and just the drive to make something of my short time alive that I see fit rather than chase money and use flimsy double talk to make myself sound better than others.

I have a pretty vivid imagination, but i get all of my base ideas from dreams. I usually remember the last half of a dream in crystal clarity, so anything that sticks out gets put on paper that morning. I have a sketch book full of images from dreams, and when i see each picture i remember almost the entire dream. So if i ever need an idea, i flip open that book.

Mainly just the enjoyment of creating is inspiration enough for me. But I really can get inspiration from just about anything, if I'm looking for it.

I guess its kinda like golf - the whole "you're playing against yourself" aspect. You just keep trying every day, and every day you get a little bit better..you hope. Seeing how easily it comes to other people, and the amazing things other people do only drives you to put more dedication into it.

When I say "you", I mean "me".

basically the downfalls of the human race, and the 21st century at that. i love just sitting down and thinking about people, ultra-realities, politics, religion, etc etc. i like to think of myself as a philosopher, as cheesy as that sounds.
oh well, it's all in good fun!

The primary thing that inspires me is video games. Not the actual games themselves so much as the playing of them. Getting insanely good at them. Beating the system within the game. Breaking sequence and bringing to light feats and accomplishments that the developers had never imagined possible.

    That and Led Zeppelin.

Teachers in the town I was born in told me im gonna fail and never be succesful. Im gonna prove them wrong. I have good grades and my parents dont like the fact that im completely set on art, but its all that really matters. Its jus, when im drawing I can feel tranquil and calm and all that shit thats going on doesnt matter. And being able to say I draw for a living. Thats a bonus.

My boyfriend, my baby [dog xD], my family and friends... other people's art really inspires me.... music--always listen to music while I'm drawing.... video games--especially Final Fantasy... books... dreams... and objects I'm surrounded by in everyday life...

Something as simple as a small flower can inspire a piece of artwork that is eloquent, creative, and unique; you just have to learn to look at it from a different perspective.

I use nicotine for inspiration. I believe theres a little painting in every cigarette, and I just have to smoke them all to find the right one.

i draw insperation from everything as well...however my greatest insperation is emotions. I love being able to illustrate an emotion on paper, and by useing different techniques, be it expression or color, haveing someone else totally oblivious to it...actually feel the emotion in the painting. its alwasy been something that drew me to art. (which is why i like manga, the over board emotions in it draw me in.) (the biggiest emotion would be love in my book...so i have a lot of romantic images)

the world around me, my feelings, nature...and of course my creative friends are a big insperation to me. i love sitting with them in a group and just haveing a bunch of paper and pencils and sketching out things...random things that come to mind, and then passing it along and discussing it. its awesome!

    inspirations

    comercialism
    things that suck
    things that rule
    counter culture
    off color beauty

Art has allways been my favorite toy. Whenever I get board with it I can make myself unboard. I feel a great since of acomplishment when I unlock my imagination.

[QUOTE=Wolfykins]Everybody on here is an artist in some way or form. My question to everyone is: What inspires you? What is it about art that keeps you into it and that fuels whatever it is you create

    good question...

for me, mainly the want to learn more. Plenty of times i feel i want to give up, but then I am letting me down, no-one else..blah blah

    in a nut shell:

pain, happiness, stress, experiences (of ALL kinds wink, wink, nudge, nudge), friendships, family, other cultures, TV, film, fine art, representation, freedom, the actual idea of expressing how you feel, advice from my peers and pure love for what I do, and the fact that I get to meet so many talented and inspiring people...
