Its' free and it takes less than 10 seconds!
Sliced rock black and slick; Thick bodies of moss languishing in the fat of ceaseless vapours.
Glistening ribbons of silver fray into silken mist. From the severed wrist of a fallen tree spatters and pours the blood of the earth and air.
In the motion, in the roar, in slow carving of stone do we hear the echoes of the stories of a civilization that must have been some real heaven, at least for a time.
Fantasy Environment: CASCADING WATERFALLS BENEATH THE DARK AND ANCIENT RUINS
[wow, it's like the ancients are speaking through me...]
[you'd better do what they say]
Howdy yu'all......I've been a fan for some time, but this is my first post.
Eriboss, Nike, heri, lukavi - thanks for yesterday's comments! Spent a little extra effort on today's pic for that.
charcoalArtist - the ear was one of the many spots I didn't go back to render in detail... heh. That's the intial sketch layer showing through.
Only noticed the collarbone amongst other stuff after I posted it though. Bad habit of mine, when working fast, I just render and don't bother to look at the whole pic. Today's one will prolly have tons of stuff I'll noticed after I post.
Stopped at hour and half... spent most of it designing the ruins.
aww after all that work Bill put into that topic bluerg, it seems a shame that theres only 2 posts so far... very inspiring bleurg tho Bill, looking foward to havin a go at it, although I gotta full work day today, so will have to submit later...
anyway...hot diggity dang Machzero, that is lookin reallllll nice, you can see the extra work that has gone into it and it really pays off on this one!
Beautiful ruin design, actually complete opposite to what I was thinking for the topic, but i always have the tendancy to go dark
Really nie use of colour too, hehe is that the elven girly from your other pic wandering about in the foreground?
Blackthorn - gret to see you posting here, welcome... I like the washy dream like quality you have achieved there, look foward to seing more stuff from you.
anyway bebacklater dsgites
What was once home to a magnificent operation harnessing the water's power for the glory of the Fhret, has fallen into the hands of time, nature and petty thieves. All that remains of it's former glory is the imagination of anyone who happens to pass by and hear the thunder of the falls.
Hi there .. my first post .. I'm really a nooby, but hey, I've seen so many beautiful images on this forum that I've decided to partecipate .. my waterfall is quite wrong, but is so fun to try .. about 30 minutes with Deep Paint 2 (I've just discovered yesterday that it is now free .. I'm just experimenting .. quite good .. the only problem is the save in jpg .. it messed all the colors .. oh well, the image was crap anyway ). Please be patient, I'm new to digital painting (well, I'm new to painting also).

nice interperatations of the topic today by everyone.
WBH's description really stirred up something dark for me, so here it is -
inks n shit, bout 30 minutes
well, i had to kill this early. because Photoshop CS2 is a big smelly piece of crap. I hate it. I managed to crash it 3 times drawing this! I cant wait to uninstall this horrible bloated slow junky good for nothing waste of time craptastic version!! Grrrrrr.

About 30 mins in PS, playing around with cartoon style to see if I like it or can pull it off. I've never seriously attempted any pen and ink stuff with PS and it's not as easy as I thought it would be! (go easy on me!)
Jabberwookie- very nice alien-like landscape concept, but it would be a stronger image overall if there was more of a difference in texture between the water and the rock
Eri- that image is really dynamic. I like it, but it's tough to see the difference between the landscape and the ruins
Heri- the composition feels a little extreme, lots of negative space, but I like it though I can't explain why, I really like all the colors in the waterfall
Mach- nice sense of scale and I like the concept of the ruins
Everybody I didn't mention already- good stuff, lots of nice moods and dynamic compositions
"Pilot Color Pen No. 101" Marker. A few hours.
Blackthorn - Nice. Almost looks like acrylics or something. Maybe it is.
Machzero - Really nice design on the ruins. The greens are a bit too saturated.
Hamsta - I like it. Maybe the brush you used is too big though?
Heri - Looks a bit too much like ice. The water should shoot over the cliff's edge.
Orporick - Good mood. With some more details, it could be pretty good.
Pechu - Perspective is a bit skewed. Good colours.
DuneFishUK - A passable picture, if it weren't for the blurriness.
Eriboss - Your loose pictures always impress me.
jabberwookie - It's not as bad as you make it out to be.
Nike - Very nice.
NKunleashed - The lines are too twitchy for that full blown cartoon look.
eh..another quickie...about 25 min this time
kinda robbin your idea NKunleashed
My presure sensitivity wasn't working so I decided to break out some textures which was pretty fun.
Its been a while...nice looking stuff here.
jabberwookie- I actualy like this composition, from a cinematic point of view. One could imagine the camera slowly zooming in on the mysterious structure...momentarily revealing the sources of its strength.
Eriboss- This is absolutely exquisite...I am a major fan of traditional mediums, and I have always been a student of the traditional mediums. I look forward to seeing even more of your great work.
Pechu- Nice and sweet...tight color contrast...a well initiated concept.
machzero- Your cherished technique allows your concept to have a lushness to it. The selective color implimentation over your monochromatic sketch gives this a very sumptuous feel. Its very nice.
1 hour and 30 minutes, in red ball point pen.
Heya, quickie, half an hour photoshop, no refining done to it.
@Eriboss: gorgeous work!!
CSOLDIER7 - thanks for the comment... however, last three/four colour pics had no monochrome "undercoat".
aprat you're right about the pen size, would have worked better if increasing the size increased the number of dots, not enlarged the same 3 dots, but I haven't looked for it as of yet.
As for your work - sorry, but somehow it just dosen't "sit" well, it's kinda vague, but I'll try my best to point things out.
I think this has problems with contrast, why does one wall have a completely black shaded side, while the other is just hatched? the same goes for the dam.
does everything go to the same vanishing points? something just dosen't seem to check out...
Best I can do for a quicky and time restraints.....started it a 8am.
Hamsta - I think the vanishing points are more or less correct.
The reason i didn't fill everything with black is it took too damn long.
