    Cookie's ditched cookies ~ old sketchbook. No longer updated.

    Hi,

    K, i suppose this is gonna be my sketchbook. I hate posting stuff, but i guess it's necessary for improvements and stuff.

    Here are some recent sketches/somewhat finished stuff.
    1. Cookie's ditched cookies ~ old sketchbook. No longer updated.
    I saw the movie only a couple of weeks ago, i should finish the other doodles i made while watching. Maybe i'll go back and add some more details to this one. Fix the wonky sword, maybe do something about that BG. Illustrator CS over a pencilsketch.

    2. Cookie's ditched cookies ~ old sketchbook. No longer updated.
    Speedsketch, used a reference. Photoshop CS. Got bored, didn't really finish.

    3. Cookie's ditched cookies ~ old sketchbook. No longer updated.
    Another sketch, this is OC. I'm aware of the wonky hand. It has some other issues. Used a ref for the pose. I guess i like the hair.

    4. Cookie's ditched cookies ~ old sketchbook. No longer updated.
    Used a ref. Played around in illustrator. This one's finished. Looking back i could've done so many things differently. Oh well... live and learn and stuff..

    Crits and comments are welcome.

    New Sketchbook can be found here: NEW SKETCHBOOK

    HEY cookie

    1: i like the character but the bg is kinda stealing her attention maybe its the blue in the picture, but the composition works for me, my eyes keep focusing on her eyes and imo thats a good thing.

    2: be carefull with those flesh tones they are a bitch and they bite back hard if you do them just slightly wrong. there is a slightly plastic feeling in her skin but i dont know if that is a style thing or not, so i cant say if its positive or negative. But i like her expression, looks like if she has been posing for hour and hours and is kinda bored with the situation. Hehe, or something.

    3: I like the warm colors in the bg altough they are kind desaturated. Her neck is a little bit to far back and it makes it looks really off imo.

    4: you know what i think about this one hehehe

    Good schtuff, i hope i get to see more of it.

    Yeah, hi again. Didn't wanna post something without any art.

    @Crash:
    Thanx for the crits. You're right about the first and third pic. I hadn't realised i still draw giraffenecks. The second was a speedsketch i never finished.

    @Warground Zer0:
    I'm glad you like the style. Actually, my inspiration comes not from one specific source. I do lurk around a lot on this board cos they have such fun art. But when it comes to cartoons, i like watching Shin Chan, Totally Spies and that kind of stuff. I should be watching the news instead.

    K, new pic. It still has it's issues, but it's somewhat better then before. No refs, quick sketch in Painter Classic, then traced/colored in Illustrator.
    Cookie's ditched cookies ~ old sketchbook. No longer updated.
    The part on the left is empty, cos there was some text there before. I felt that cropping it wouldn't help her, she looks more balanced now. Or something. I dunno.

    These are really fun! Nice simple color and thick lines. I enjoy what you're doing here! The nude one reminds me very much of Kyle Baker... that's a compliment.

    Hey Cookie, just thought i'd give some comments!

    I love the kill bill one and the one with the smiley background. But i think that the ladies left arm (the viewers right side) is a bit short.

    I also like 3 & 4, but you are right about the hand in 3. It is wonky and her eyes are a little bloodshot.

    Keep up the great work!

    Wow, more replies. Neat!

    @Cobi:
    Thanks for the compliments. Pop-cartoon... that's a nice description. 'Bout the hair:practice and experiment and do your own fantastic hair.

    @oven g love:
    Hehe, pubes on fire. Actually, she was a redhead before, but earlier feedback was "It looks like Disney-porn!". So i felt i had to change it, cos it was just coincidence instead of intent.

    @ArtisticSchmidt:
    Thanks for the reply. I don't know Kyle Baker, but i'm glad it's something positive. I'll google some later, cos now i'm curious.

    @J2XA:
    You're right about the arm. I don't like going back to pics to fix up stuff and that is what i did with this pic a couple of times. In the version i posted here, i changed her body quite a bit (less booty, more rib/waist and stuff). I overlooked fixing the arm too. You're also right about the bloodshot eyes. Maybe she was in the mood for some tears. I have no excuse.

    @OleOlsen:
    Ah, i'm happy you like my cookies. But i'm no man. Hmm, fur. I suppose you're right. Nice to know you're keeping an eye on the goodies.

    @Fellah.:
    Thanks for the compliment. I'll try to keep it up.

    So, since i just kinda promised that, here's some new stuff. I felt like experimenting after i found this neat, i think it's Belgian, indie comic. It had this amazing style and i think the artist mixed both photoshop and illustrator or something, i have no clue. But i did feel like trying something new after checking the art, so this is done in illustrator and photoshop. I'm not sure how succesful it is. I really should learn to plan my sketches better before i go and color up stuff. I also pretty much hate green. Anyway, here's the pic:

    Yeah have a very nice graphic style. Your style is reminiscent of a friend of mine, you need to check out his stuff. http://www.bawidamann.com/. Anyway, personally I like the green scheme one myself. Reminds me of St. Patties Day.

    Cookiedough- Who is this Belgian, indie comic artist you mentioned? I'd like to know his/ her name!

    And yea, Kyle Baker kicks ass!
    Here's his website: http://kylebaker.com/

    I like the new piece. The simple buildings in the bkgd are cool.

    SprayNation- Your friends pin-ups look so familiar! Did he ever attend Columbus College of Art in Ohio?

    Here's some poo

    @ Hurricane:
    Glad you like it. Here, have a .

    @ dashi:
    Nice to know you appreciate green more. Thanks for the compliment.

    @ OleOlsen:
    Thanks for the reply.

    @ SprayNation:
    Ha, i don't see that much of a reminiscence between my stuff and your friends, except that we both draw girls and use illustrator . Love his style, very 60's and very Betty Page. He's quite talented and i've added him to my favourites.

    @ ArtisticSchmidt:
    The artist i was talking about can be found at http://www.dollywood.be/. His name is Maarten Van Der Wiele. Here's a page of the comicbook i bought. Kyle sure has neat stuff and he's very versatile. Thanks for the compliment.

    @ Rook:
    Thanks for the comment, curly.

    K, following is a huge dump. I scanned some pages of my sketchbook. I don't particularly like them, but i gotta do something on the train.

    CookieDough-I thought your style was similar to his because you both work very graphically and emphasize the curvalinear shapes of the female model. Of course, his style is slightly more pornographic. Yours is slightly more disney (I don't mean that in a bad way). As for a critique, you probably should do more referenced work. I know you want to go for a more graphic look, but I would encourage you to do more life drawing without stylizing the figures. This will help you to solve problems when working graphically by thinking dimensionally!

    ArtistSchmidt-Yeah, he graduated in 1999 I believe. Did you attend CCAD?

    CookieDoh!- Those are some GREAT new sketches you put up. MY favorite is the one in blue pen, with ref. The chick holding the bread. Nicely done! The pen drawings are kick ass also. Keep up the good work!

    SprayNation- I thought so! Very cool. Yes, I did attend CCAD from 1995 and graduated in 2000. It's a small world.

    Hey, on the off chance that you don't know about her yet, just thought i'd drop this link in here - in my opinion she's the queen of drawing cute girls, Katie Nice. I heard she was 17 when she started as a layout artist on Ren & Stimpy, not sure that one's true though. I just checked the site again and there's some fun stuff in her blog as well.
    You have some nice stuff here, i especially like Beatrice Kiddo. Agree on Spraynations critique though, lifedrawing is what makes drawings breathe. And work big when you're doing lifedrawings

    I'm sorry for not updating or responding before. I don't want to update this sketchbook without any new art and i have been in quite a slump for a while.

    @ Spray Nation:
    Sorry for replying so late. You have a nice way of saying things. And in that context, you're right. You're also right about referenced work. I should do that more. Hmm.. i'll try to do more lifedrawings in the future too.

    @ ArtisticSchmidt:
    Glad you like the doodles, thanks for the reply.

    @ John O.:
    I'm familiar with Katie Nice's work, she has some sweet stuff. Don't know much about her though. Thanks for the link. Next time i'll draw bigger .
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    So, in the time i wasn't posting, i did draw some stuff. I went to the Belgium Workshop (organized by Hyver - awesome guy-), had a blast and also did some lifedrawing. The models were pretty, but i was still a bit in a slump and my hands didn't really feel like cooperating that much. So during that weekend i drew less then i actually wanted.

    Anyways, on to the artstuff.

    Lifedrawings:
    Cookie's ditched cookies ~ old sketchbook. No longer updated.
    Cookie's ditched cookies ~ old sketchbook. No longer updated.
    Cookie's ditched cookies ~ old sketchbook. No longer updated.
    Cookie's ditched cookies ~ old sketchbook. No longer updated.
    Cookie's ditched cookies ~ old sketchbook. No longer updated.
    Cookie's ditched cookies ~ old sketchbook. No longer updated.
    Cookie's ditched cookies ~ old sketchbook. No longer updated.

    Some selfcrits:
    I need more patience and maybe better glasses. Some stuff is sooooo wrong, mostly the feet and perspective stuff. I also need to use softer leads when doing lifedrawings (i mostly used hb to 4b). Most sketches need more contrast too. I'm also too 'line-dependant'.

    Other doodles:
    Cookie's ditched cookies ~ old sketchbook. No longer updated.
    Cookie's ditched cookies ~ old sketchbook. No longer updated.
    Cookie's ditched cookies ~ old sketchbook. No longer updated.

    The last 2 are with reference. The coloring work is colored pencils. Maybe i should've tinkered with the contrast a bit in PS. The chibi thing was done with some markers.

    Overall, I think this could be better, the slump shows off. On the other hand I'm inspired again and doing some digital stuff.

    Less sucky work coming soon.

    Hey cookie, more great work!

    thought i'd drop a crit:
    Your shading is great but your lighting is a little off. On the first pic the light seems to be coming from the left but on her left thigh the left seems to be coming from the left and right.

    Apart from that, great work.

    i like the ninja cartoon!

    hey cookie i enjoyed ur ninja girls, u might wanna give em a chance to show there full strenght in vectors hehe.

    as for ur life drawins id suggest to let ur fingers stick with ur pen in order to keep em from rubbin the paper
    i know it can be hard sometimes but shadin like that can make ur work look worse then it actualy is. try to shade with lines and try to think more of how u use ur lines especially in ur shadow areas.

    hope it helps keep the girls commin

    My apologies, i forgot to update.

    1. Used a ref for the pose. Illustrator and PS.

    2. This isn't finished. It was supposed to be fanart for some Dutch indie comic, called Gutsman. I was lucky enough to get some signed copies of the comic. Man, oh man, this comic is sooo cool! More info here . I wasn't pleased with the pose, so i'm gonna redo this sometime soon. No refs, PS + Illustrator

    I really like basicly everything you've done here. Great colors and great linework.
    And of course it's always nice to see some nudity cause it's so hard to find
    it on the internet. Keep em coming!

    I love the tonal pencil life drawings, they look great, despite the minor anatomy issues. Of the color stuff, I really like the last two ladies. Really unique colors you chose for them. Good stuff.
