I'm going to post some old work mine (well, not that old). I'll keep it brief and relevant to the direction I'm going in these days.

(If you want to scroll down and skip this bit - I won't hold it against you.)

    ---
These two are old works from a couple of years back - when I was completeing my final A-Level work. A City/Gigeresque staple fetish evolves into me just drawing monkeys with scythes for hands.

    Sculpt/Sketch/Font/Model-book

    Sculpt/Sketch/Font/Model-book

I returned to the Scythe Monkey the next year and made a short animation based on it and it's role in removing evil from the city.

    [NEW LINKY! - it's on poo-tube] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EPhQs-ia48

This next year was a Foundation course where my final major project involved designing and making stuff for the fictional film "THE MAN WHO COULD NOT DIE" (think Gladiator vs. Planet of the Apes and you have the basics).

    Sculpt/Sketch/Font/Model-book

    Sculpt/Sketch/Font/Model-book

During this time I gleaned some painfully basic knowlege of 3d Studio Max which I utilised as best I could.
A 1 minute trailer for THE MAN WHO COULD NOT DIE is also on my site.
    ---
I am currently doing a Model Design course at uni... and trying to hone a more accurate illustrative approach (as opposed to my age old trick of throwing crap at it and ripping it up until it looks passable)

    Sculpt/Sketch/Font/Model-book

An anamatic sequence of Escape from New Britannia (my take on the Spaceship project we were given) - including animated storyboards, some shots of my model spaceship and some 3ds Max, is up for download at my site as well. The address follows...

Trying to work out how to draw faces close up without too many crappy random lines that mean very little. Limited success.

A lot of you people are depressingly amazing at painting on the computer. With your Painter and your Wacom ... Odi et Amo.

I am slowly getting less crap at drawing. This still has bad crap bits. But it's my first real try at colouring. (yeah - soft airbrush is bad. I learn my lesson)

    18/09/05 Update:
I'm back on the Sentala... now with a cheap-wacom-clone. I'm not amazingly good yet - but this is the WIP as it stands.

Still working on this one... Gonna re-jig some of the proportions etc...

Arrrrgh - Bad timing! I've squandered my quickly drawn thimbs for the Illustration activity by ignoring the deadline and getting FIRED!

Ah well - i may well continue with the activity but post my progress here.

hey there! big range of stuff!
this one is my favourite though, such a crazy style.
I think you need to have some more confidence in your line drawings, they seem a bit vague.
    Just keep practising!

These fit into the quick sketch catagory. Getting used to using my meagre tablet and not using a scanned pencil sketch as a basis. (ie 100% ps)

Harko City, Giedi Prime. The day of the procession. Baron Salvius Harkonnen makes his way down Court Way towards the old Slave Exchange. On huge stands more than a million spectators gather to cheer him... Security forces lurk in the background to make sure they cheer.

    A very productive day.

    It rained today.
    So I didn't go out.
    Instead, I photoshopped.

    Here is what I did.

    A not magnificent start...

    A very quick DSG entry
    Sculpt/Sketch/Font/Model-book

And another one for an older DSG

    All crit welcome. Thanks.

This is my attempt at a reasonably low poly model. I intend to go back one day and put on some real textures/bitmaps... one day.

    Worked this up yesterday:
    Sculpt/Sketch/Font/Model-book

EDIT - I've gone back to this one to sort out the lighting problem (partly thanks to the post by ODT) and now I think it looks a lot better. However - the basic picture is flawed in it's shape. Time to call it quits start a new one

I know I need to draw more from life. So that is what I do. Just quick doodles from a distance and the whole lot couldn't have taken more than half an hour including the consumption of a very good pasty.

i think you shoudl study how light works...the planes that are facing you will be the brightest, the more they face away the darker they are.... this all seems to be a little jumbled with you at the mo...

    Hey O D T, thanks for posting.
I'm pretty sure it was Message 17 that you saw first - I've just gone back and updated it and improved the lighting (no more strange triangular eye-bag).

As always, I work and slowy, ever so slowly, hope to improve.... maybe.

    Thanks again.

Posting a genuine WIP now. It will be updated tomorrow (All things permitting). Yes - the hand. I know. I know what I will be looking at more closely tomorrow.

    EDIT
I had an idea to do a speed paint of an assassin based on an interesting idea spawned from a ref picture. It has turned into a hell. The hand as it is in the Ref is beyond my skills. So I adapt it, it's better... but still WRONG. 1 hour later, this is the update. Will return to it tomorrow.

A Dune inspired quizarate functionary concept. I was trying to de-Fremen-ise the Fremen.
It took some time over this, I think it shows... shame about the anatomy/shapes.

I'm going to do something out of character:
Post some "old" (ahem... a few months old) work.
It's the storyboards from a project I did before the summer holiday.

(The final result is on my website)

    New stuff tomorrow... stay tuned

I had a well productive night last night. I got home and, as usual I have the need to draw. Unusually though it was not the early hours of the morning so I could actually stay awake long enough to draw. And draw I did!

Two sketches I want to give the photoshop treatment/redraft and turn into something special - I'll proabably only be the big one: a female witchhunter of sorts... working on it.
