Tigermilk: It's funny you mention that, because that's what all this is going to be eventually. I'm working on this short story based on an Egyptian fable. That last enviro is for a scene where the main character enters Osiris' Hall of Judgement in the Underworld.
Anyway. Just one for tonight. I'm working on a Jenny Lewis porttrait. I just started this about an hour ago. There are some major things wrong..especially being that it doesn't at all like Ms Lewis. Still working on it though
okay...a small update. After I posted the portrait above I realized how old she looked and it just grinded at me...so I had to immediately paint some more. I think it's getting there. I need to shave a few more years though. And crits or comments on this one would really be helpful.
hey Jason, great sketchbook! you've got a really nice style going here, love your pencil work as well as the gestural qualities in alot of your figures (seem nice and dynamic). you've got some amazing environments as well, really like the one with the tall spire in the background.. keep it up! perhaps I'll see you at a sketchgroup thingy here in Boston if there ever is one
Hey everyone. Just a small update for the night. First is just a quick halloween speed paint. Nothing too fancy. And second is a character design for a project. I think I'm gonna try and do a character a night. I've seen so many others here do that, and their progress over time seem to jump incredibly.
Onir: Thanks man. Yeah...hopefully we'll all get together soon for a sketchbook meetup. Boston used to have a really good one going, but it seems people, myself included, got really busy.
Little Update today. I've started full course on this little project of mine. It's gonna be for my portfolio. You may have noticed a theme in the last few entrees here (except for the Jenny piece). Essentially I'm developing this Egyptian fable, based loosely on an old egyptian story. (The original story was very short and pretty basic...as old fables usually are.) So I'm writting out the story, developing characters, scenes, environments, and eventually, some final paintings and maybe even some story boards.
The sketch below (about 1hr) is about mid-way thru the story, where the main character has climbed onto the leg of a giant scarab who has now taken flight across a grassy plain.
I'm gonna go further with this some more, so crit it if you want.
