mrgrumble Thanks man. It's one of the reasons why i love painter so much. Just the ability to experiment, cleanly, and then learn those techniques for traditional media.

dan liimatta Thanks man. Hmmm. I might try that. Good idea! (Oh and thanks for bring me to page number 4!. Whoohooo)

he sure did dan. i haven't been posting in a bit...so it's make up time.

here's another quicky. 30 mins. I just wanted to get down mood and basic architecture. The challange was to conceptualize Albesila in the fog with the castle behind her.

    enthombed: thanks...appreciate it.

    smid gracias

    designboot:: cool.

Call0ps: Yeah...i know, perspective. Sometimes with the fast sketches I tend not to care as much...i just want to get the idea out of my head, ya know. But thanks. I do care about it, and I'm working on it.
bhanu: Thank you for subscribing. Very nice.

    Dreamworker: Thanks man.

Here are some castle sketches for the Myster of Albesila project. Just trying things out. And below that is the beginnings of an Orthographic/Turnaround. I didn't go any further yet, because it's not my concept, so I'm taking it step by step.

designboot: thanks man. just glad to be ass kicking!

bhanu: Sadly I don't really do enough comics. Right now it's all about getting a concept portfolio done. I do like narrative illustration, so maybe in the future. See the Mystery of Albesila link in Designboots signature for infor on what the project is all about. It's cool.

Here's an update on that ortho. Almost done.

hey there jason. the enviro's are looking very nice. you might think about using some brushes to help you lay down basic shapes faster. for example if your rendering houses from a distance they can really be broken down to squares with some highlight to give the illusion of form. you can do this by making a scatter brush. otherwise they are looking nice. the orthos are sweet. cool costume. the only thing is im not sure whats going on with his right hand. also, from and industrial design standpoint orthos have a sort of forumla thats followed in the industry. your first side view (his right) should be mirrored in the other direction also his left veiw should go to the left of the front. the back can be placed by itself to the right (although im not sure its altogether necessary to have the back since there is no detail in that area) whoa, sorry that got technical, otherwise great job bro. try to hammer out a 3/4 veiw or action view of that character for the portfolio. great stuff and keep rocking

    -ryan

Call0ps: Thanks. I didn't really design this guy, though...so I can't take credit totally. I'm following a sketch of the character.

Ryan: WOW. Thanks for all of that. That's like the best post ever. After reading through that it all made sense suddenly with repositioning the poses in the turn-around...so that it literally reads from left to right as a turn-around. (I literally went "Doh" and smacked my forehead.) And good tip about the brushes for the enviros...i'm just now sorta getting into customizing my brushes...and I just got Painter 10, so it's making hella fun too.

going back to the Egypt project again. i really want to start hammering out these characters for this story.

below are the two warriors in the story. They come from different times and different regions. The first one is a huge guy, a general, from one of the ancient kingdoms. I wanted him to be almost barbaric looking. The skull is of one of the underwold creatures, it was his first kill there. He's been there for an enternity already when he meets up with the main character. The second warrior is from a more modern (story-wise) egyptian time. I wanted to show the evolution of warriors. The second one is not nearly as strong or tall. He's leaner, and fitted with more riches than armor. He only found himself in the underworld very recently.

    Thanks DB.

Update: I was staring at the final and I began to realize that the guys left arm and leg are really weird. So I repainted the arm a little to match up with his right one. I think that his arm bands were out of perspective or something. Then I enlarged his left leg. Before it looked like he had a gimpy leg.

Then I decided...Hmm..why not go for a complete ortho. I flipped the painting and just now started painting over it to make the backside.
