Wasker Yeah...I've got to get going on doing more enviros...I love doing them...I just always do something else instead. Practice.

mrgrumble Thanks man. Huante is a favorite. I got one of his books on Monsters.

TheGnoll Thanks bud. Update more? I'll try harder.

Here's a small update for the day:

    The Tin Man: Sketch

I decided to redesign the Tinman from Oz. I don't know if he was ever considered a robot, but I figured he's made of tin, needs oil...that's close enough. So I really pushed the twisted part of it. My idea is that in the future the oil industry employs these man-machine-bots. Essentially just large machines with human heads, that drill, use the heavy equipment and get dirty. I figure that it's also an extremely dangerous job and so they use the machines, instead of regular humans for security purposes. My concept was to show that this was a grulling job, and the humans are essentially just morphed right into the machinery...and I really wanted to show the "heart" area as missing...so that's the reason why I opted for the doughnut shaped chest.

Just a first sketch. I may change some things. I need to add more smoke stacks i think.

@work Thanks for checking my stuff out.

mrgrumble Glad you like the colors. Here's the final update; I painted in the details and scuffed him up a bit. I feel like I cheated though. The smoke was made by use the water and blur blending tool...and I was always taught the those little blender thingys were a cheat. Shrugs.

I like the design of this last one! You should polish this one! watch out for the perspective on that shoulder though on the right one. Keep sketching and figuring things out. That's the adventure of drawing, right? Holla!

    TheGnoll: Thanks man.

I still plan on finishing up that tinman concept, but today I decided to redo the one from above of the two trees with the two birds. I just wasn't feeling it at all. It was feeling blah to me. So I redid the whole thing. I've been looking at James Jean a lot lately and you can probably see the influence. I'm still working on it..just need to get some reference of the hands and the bird...and then finish up with details.

ho! that does have a james jean feel to it, but i think it still remains quite a Snair vision one thing that i find really gives james his unqiue 'look' is his great mix of media. alot of pen and ink with acrylic on top and layers of washes...if your trying for that jean-iness perhaps you could try that instead of straight digital? dont havet o at all mate, cuz i think its lookin mighty fine as is
    cheers!

good stuff again - a idea would perhaps be to fully render one object in the latest piece, like the bird - or go further with the branches. Anyway good going.
