Cobi, thanks for stopping by. I've seen your sketchbook before and I think I know what you mean. Sorry i didn't leave a comment but I was in a rush. I'll head over there again to take a look.

Well here is something I did today. Moving away from figures and life drawings for a day. Just trying to see how much I remember from my drafting class way back in 8th grade. I have to say that it's not much.

keep it up BEN, only advice is when your sketching try and draw your lines light enough only so you see what you want to accomplish and when your done, you can basically go back and darking what you want and it will give it a clean look. you can see that your imroving so just keep it up and dont put the pencil down......take care man

working with gesture drawings today. didn't really do much, here are two.
Sajad thanks for stopping by. I use to do that but find it harder to do with the mechanical pencils. Maybe that will be my next investent a pencil sharpener and a few regular pencils of different hardness.

OpenBook thanks for stopping by, glad to know you enjoyed it.

Here is tonight's sketch it's a Celestial Chorister from mage. Yes he's young and a goth but the character, as played by his player, is very well done and researched. His name is Dakota. This sketch took a little more time than the gesture drawings but not much. it's a standard frontal pose that didn't take much figuring as far as anatomy. I did make him 9 head's tall just to see what I would end up with. at the moment his legs are a bit long which I hope to fix in the final. much of the clothing was researched.

Well some neck studies from Bridgman for today. Took IanE's suggestion to copy the images mirrored over. Yes it's much harder and i did have to think more about the shapes I was drawing.

I'm beginning to study architecture. So here is my first study. Photo reference was used the perspective was changed slightly but over all it is still the same image as the photo. Had a few problems especially with my attention span as I was finishing I became disinterested in it and so the last two columns outwards suffered. Over all I think I learned quiet a bit from it.

You have very nice proportions and anatomy. The figures seem really fluid. I think you might do well to work a little on your rendering and maybe work the values more. Still, very inspiring work!

Thank you masterpug. I do need to learn a lot about rendering my images. The anatomy is something that I think I will always be learning. something new crops up all the time. maybe some more rendering studies are in order.

Well here is my image from today. studying Indian Culture at the moment.

    Ref used

I really like your life drawings, poses, and movement sketches. My friend's dog's name is coqui. I really like the fruits. the shading is cool... i absolutely have no way with shading.

Does your friend happen to be Borikua, the qoqui is a small puertorican tree frog that makes the most beutiful song at night try to whistle Coqui and that's the sound they make.

    Anyway thanks for the compliments

here is a revision of a concepts from uptop. Still muchleft to do on it so any comments are welcomed.

Just looked through your whole sketchbook. Some cool stuff in here. For a lot of your work though, you still need to refine your shapes a bit more to look more realistic. You're definitely close, but small problems end up throwing everything off a tad.

Its great that youre studying anatomy books like bridgeman. One thing you might want to keep in mind is that if you just copy the lines out of those books, you probably wont remember the shapes too well. I did a lot of copying out of books, but it never helped me all that much because I wasnt learning anything. What really helps is to try and copy the picture, but do it from a different angle, or several angles, or just draw the inverse of what you see. Also, drawing the same things you just studied without looking at the book can be really helpful.

    Keep it up

Thanks for the words of encouragement Aesir. They are always welcomed. You are so right about the studying. I have found that you have to make the drawings from reference your own and really try to learn about what you are drawing instead of just copying. I'm not at that point yet but I started to play more with the images.

Well here is a pice that I'm working on. got frustrated so I went to the book to see I could loosen up a bit.

Alisa - Borikua means someone from Puerto Rico. as to the thumbnail they are indead a great way to plan a page. that particular one is for a Changeling fan project, over on shadownessence.com, called Fomorians: Lords of Nightmare

Well here is a character Facial study. All front views to try and nail the look down. I will probably do a 3/4 view to see what I get.

Ole thanks for stopping by. I know that my anatomy is weak but I'm trying to work on it daily. Using Bridgman and doing some studies from life.

Here is todays page. the torso is from Bridgman and the hand and feet are my own.

I figured that since I have had some request for color I would cap this page of the thread with a color study. Starting off with baby steps. here is a flower color study done in color pencil, Marker, and Graphite.
