Try this - straight to a PDF

    https://www.alliance.org.au/docman/t...ownload/gid,8/

You should try googling - I found it in under 2 minutes!

(Jeez, they don't pay well in Oz then colour cover = 693.00 ish, man I hate the strong pound, that and all my clients are in the U.S )

Thanks Venger got it! Now I see why I couldnt get it before (google or other wise) they where updating it . The annoying thing is that I found the old rates in an old email and quoted them to my client. Damn I could have charged an extra $200 for a cover. Oh well, you live and learn. Thanks again dude.

Says right at the top, those are minimum rates. Never start negotiations at the bottom.

The scary thing is I have lost countless jobs because employers arnt willing to pay the "minimum" rate and it looks like this new client is going to do the same with rates that are 2 years out of date. Its pretty sad realy

Well sometimes it's just easier to fit your work to the clients budget.
You pay $500 you get $500 worth of work. Taylor your skills and let your client know what he's getting! - helps keep food on the table

Yeah, I've heard Australian rates are lousy (and the ones from that site are pretty low, even as minimums). But the only way any of us are going to get fees up to where they should be is steady pressure from the bottom. Any time someone asks you for a quote, figure out your minimum, and then ask for enough more that you can comfortably come down if necessary and still let them feel they're getting a bargain. Any time someone comes to you with a figure, always ask for a little more, and you'll be surprised how often you'll get it. As artists we are far too ready to say yes out of a combination of flattery and fear, and lose sight of basic business negotiation. Spread the word!

    Very Helpful!!

I have just recently experienced this myself...you hear all kinds of stories, but when you actually experience someone "low-balling" you, you feel taken advantage of. It's definatly something that needs to be talked about. It's good to have those numbers to refer to so thanx for that!
