Ana's science experiments, new sketches 9 Oct 2010 -::UPDATES ON THE LAST PAGE::-
OK, so I have this old sketchbook. But I didn't have time to update it... now that I finished school 2 days ago, I thought it's best I start a new sketchbook. And here it is. All things are drawn these 2 days... Excuse the bad grammar but I'm a bit braindead right now. Enjoy!

More inspiration struck! Aaah?!
June 5th, 2005 #4
These enviroments are great. I especially like the last one. Warm red colour for shadow was a good choice. It gives a feeling of strong light.
If you're not inspired, try maybe searching for some photos with interesting landscapes. I would also suggest experimenting more with textures.
June 5th, 2005 #5
Thank you! Actually I feel inspired and creative like never before, I hope it lasts longer and I don't get artist's block anytime soon.
June 5th, 2005 #6
i love the first one on your second post, like the colors you use on each one as well...
i agree about trying out textures
got a traditional stuff?
June 6th, 2005 #7
Thanks, tho lol it's the pic I'm not that happy about. Traditional? No, I'm currently fully digital. I have some pencil and gel pen stuff waiting to be scanned, I'll post them here as soon as I get that done.
Comments are so immensely appreciated.. lol. I'll do some new enviros in half an hour after I grab something to eat so laters, guys!

The tree needs a lil more work.. but my patience sort of grew thin.

skintones and a pretty looking male
June 9th, 2005 #11
Nice moods, really like your last post, the figure looks very good. Very pretty looking male. You environments look great too, I like the Tree one, blue and orange/brown gets me going. I think a bit of form for the eye ball would help on the eye one, skin tone looks nice, though I wonder how it looks on a different background colour.
look forward to more.

Thank you for the nice and throughout reply! I'll keep the eyeball in mind next time. I'm glad you liked them and excuse the current incoherence, but it's a bit late.
Here's something before going to bed!
Again, thanks, min

My first double-view of a character.. crits encouraged
June 11th, 2005 #14
nice, I don't have the courage to draw double views, I know it will look stuffed if I tried! it's looking good, looks like you got all the bits and pieces in the right place. now how about the back view? j/k
One thing I do notice is she seems a little stiff, should the knee be bit more relaxed? as in if you draw a straight line down the middle of the sideview figure, it should identify the problem? or maybe flip it horizontally and see, the weight does seem a little off, I am guessing the knee should go << a bit and the feet little bit more further back. her legs don't look natural when you are standing.
Hope I wasn't too critical. Look forward to seeing more.
June 11th, 2005 #15
Critical?! Not at all!
You got the problem nailed down alright, I noticed that as well but couldn't find a way to make the knees look less bent for less than 5 mins, so I just left it. There's a lil prob on the side view's neck, but at least I cleared it up on the original file.
No patience for back views, sorry
Thanks for the reply! *beams*

OK, before you continue.. please read this:
I have not created a finished character piece in 2 years now. I am aiming to make this a finished work, so please, I need as much feebback as possible.
Pic done tonight for 6 or maybe more hours. I plan on finishing it in a week, spending at least 3 hours on it every day.
Now, I go die on my bed. G'night to all.
June 16th, 2005 #17
Look at the right hand, unless it's broken, that's a very akward way to be holding something. Another thought might be mixing in more cool colors to create stronger contrast throughout the piece. And try not to die.

but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.
June 17th, 2005 #18
Haha, don't worry, I don't intend to anytime soon.
Anyways, thanks, I'll work on that tonight!
Any other suggestions? Anyone think I should post this in the WIP section?
June 17th, 2005 #19
WIP section is a good idea,
firstly anatomy issues?? it's not an easy pose. right hand from elbow onwords look a bit weird. possibly the wrist needs more work as mentioned above. the left hand is way too small, just compare the hands, right too, to the size of the face. you should try it on the mirror with your hands, see how much the hand covers the face? You can barely cover 1/4 of the face with those hands.
Her ass is too small.
Her face looks good. How about making the canvas a bit bigger, you can always crop it later. it might just effect how you view your work in a tigher area. Looking good and definitelypost it on WIP for more helpful comments.
June 19th, 2005 #20
Hey, Min, thanks man, very helpful insights, I'll post the guy in a separate thread later on, after I finish my university portfolio or just get a bit more work done on it.
Her ass is too small. << ROFL! Aye, it's nonexistent! Just a head.. get it.. right?.. right? *slumps shoulders*
Drawn with glitter gel pen (which I got specifically for drawing, so stop staring) and Steadtler pigment liner 0.05. Touched them up a bit in PS because the pencil wasn't making the right tones and added the blue light on the guy to the right.

Should have at least planned the proportions on this.. but it's mainly a color and lighting study So.. yeah, I know the hand's too huge.
June 20th, 2005 #22
Hey. I like the colors in the last one. However, seeing as how it's a lighting study; you shoulda placed some of those hard blue highlights on the face as well as the hands. You've pulled the blues into the skintone, and that's good, but the face is a bit..mute compared to the hands.
I like your enviros! Especially the first one in grayscale.
June 20th, 2005 #23
Love the last one, the face is really well done, the lighting from below always gives off that creeky look. You've captured that well. I do agree with the above statement though, The blue isn't giving off much lighting, but not sure if putting blue is going to destroy that face. The hand is a bit chubby, there are few anatomical issues, but like you said lighting and colour. I think it's got a nice mood to it.
Thanks for dropping by mine too. Hope to see more of your awsome stuff, cheers,

nice sketch book nice light colours in alot of them, really liking your work but id like to see a few more hard shadings in some of the people, very nice

dCepT, Sems, Min, thanks guys.. you're so sweet *cuddles* I keep every comment in mind when I draw
Excuse the whinyness and the brain fuzziness but I should go sleep soon..
My scanner is starting to annoy me *bemused glare* I know the proportions on the guy are wrong.. I don't like using the eraser, k?
Was supposed to be a sketch, would have loved to fix his slight squint but I didn't know if I can control myself.
I dunno what to do with this anymore. I'm getting too sick of it and even tho
I like the colors and such, correcting the mistakes is getting far too tiresome.
I'll stop whining now.

that first one is awsome.. love the colours.. One thing though, if you made the hallway a bit darker and gave more impact on the screen + man.....
the sketches look good, the next two is a bit dark..
Like what you did with it..the hand still looks a bit off still.. I think it's because the wrist seems to snap unnaturally but that's all.. The two heads are wonderfully done. You've added so much more details.. and again love the colours.

I like the darkness.
Don't give up, you're doing good so far.

Hello guys! A billion apologies for the delay of over a month (*gasp!*) but it indeed was very busy for me all this time. I am having some sort of mini artist's block which is giving me trouble.. I did more than this, but I can't seem to find some of them right now. These are the sketches I did yesterday.. they've helped me a lot but aren't much to look at. As you can see I'm slipping back to my stylised style from years ago. Not a good thing but not bad either, it's evolved in a positive direction (just see the deviantart page I have linked on my website).. And why am I so talkative?! K, pic - here:

Thank, Badger, that hacker's rig has a little flaw tho, which I will have to fix as soon as I get back home.
Now for a short update about me - I've been pretty much non-stop on the road and sleeping over at friends in Germany the last 2 weeks and thus netless. I haven't been able to draw much at all but at times I've been feeling inspired, so I got myself a sketchbook and borrorwed some Copic markers and viola! The first 7 are from my big sketchbook, the rest are from the small one. All are in chronological order. OMFG I miss this place!!!! *cries*
