    Catacombs - Cthulhu

    Catacombs - Cthulhu
    Here's some detail:
    Catacombs - Cthulhu
    Catacombs - Cthulhu
This is a piece of cover art for a Cthulhu-based rock album. I'm really happy with how it turned out. That said, I recognize that I'm but a pimple on the ass of many artists who post here and I welcome all crits & comments. Cheers...

Whoah! This is intense... What an amazing set piece. Great depth, and genuinely spooky. Like lost souls in Hell. Great stuff! One small crit and it's nothing to do with the art; your signature is just a bit distracting... but what the heck, no matter really!

really great piece, love the brush work, just one crit: the guy just right of and below centre is much darker than the surrounding area he's standing in, I presume from his scale fe's meant to be floating closer to the viewer but the tangent of his feet and the build make it look like he's standing on it.

personally I'd go for a smaller sig too, just seen posh has said something similar.

    good job

I usually don't go for the creepy stuff, but my jaw hit the floor with this one. The composition is wonderful-- I actually get that feeling of dread, like cthulhu is looming over me. The detail work is spectacular!
Aside from what others have mentioned, the tendrils of slime on the lower left set of tentacles look a bit out of place. They somehow look less finished than the ones near the mouth, and just stand out to me. (Although that is a /very/ nitpicky aspect!)

I honestly think this is one of the better Cthulhu pictures I've seen in terms of evoking that sort of "cosmic horror" that Lovecraft was always going for. I really do feel creeped out by this depiction of him, and I dig the slanting effect of all the floating creatures that also adds to the unease effect. Very well done!

Thanks for the crits so far. I'd like to say the sig is just about visibility on a CD cover, but it's probably just my vanity showing.

Now that you mention the standing guy I can't see him as anything but. Maybe I can bend his legs back? I don't know.

I was wondering when you were going to post this! Great stuff man, it's nice to see it finished after that initial tease at Vita's. Just for humors sake, why don't you tell everyone what the resolution you were working at

As true to the spirit of the original Lovecraft stories as anything I've seen. Nice work, man.

    really impressive
    one crit:
the glowing windows elude to interior rooms,
yet the "people" are way too big to possibly fit in them.
