thanks YTHE, i defintly agree there.. my human form and figure stuff is my weakest... my drawing is alot more technical etc.

Just some stuff from school.. im doing it on figure.. so that means im gonna be taking life drawing classes.. so expect some better figure drawing soon .

Based upon the work of egon shciele.. working with crooked hands and joints.. and funky lines.

Study or sort of Alphonse Mucha's work... playing around with the hair and background...

    more to come.

Thanks Dan, over time i just learnt perspective myself.. im really maths minded and good at technical drawing so perspective has always been real real easy for me. Its more human stuff which i suck at.

Some shitty paint study.. to be honest.. its rubbish.. but im gonna work on it more.

Its to muddy, some dodgy anatomy.. some dodgy colours. Black shadows.

Hands are lookin nice... What I do is try to keep my pencil down and describe each thing is a cylinder with only a few lines, 3 or so. Just make sure you keep in your mind the entire 3d form, and it should translate onto paper. That's how it works for me anyways, good luck with that!

Good work, a lot of clear improvement! Keep at it this way!

Colour nude looks pretty good, the mistakes I see are ones common in early colour studies.
Dont use black as shadow, and dont simply use a darker tone of the colour for shadow. Thats why it looks muddy. At this stage in your studies there is no shame in colour picking to help figure out how colour behaves, just use it as a guide, not as a habit when working. You'll see how your eyes play tricks on you this way and will learn to pay attention to the tonalities.
It looks like the lighting is natural, cool light. This means that the shadows will be warmer and possibly even more saturated than the areas in light. This works opposite in artificial light, which usually creates warm highlights and cool shadows. Take some photographs of yourself and other people and take them into Photoshop to observe specific colours, especially in shadows. Take photos under different lighting conditions, too and you'll see how value and tone work together.
Big area to study, but understanding colour goes a long long way to improving your work.

Just a bit of advice on the painting, next time, if things don't go right in regards to proportions, etc. if you don't fix it early, it's best to just start over. The blocking in stage is really the most crucial part of painting, in my opinion (and it's just an opinion) it's probably 75 percent of the task of painting. It's still a decent attempt so don't be discouraged, studying the human body is an immense task, just don't give up!

I agree with Dan on blocking in. When I paint, I always try to block in first the overall silhouette to get pose/proportions, then go for blocking in major areas of value/colour before doing any detail. Its a huge step, I also avoid zooming in when doing this digitally, usually stick around 25% to no more than 50% zoomed in until I start details.
Character drawing looks good, I just have to be anal about the concept! Either his pose is wrong, or the gun needs rework! In the way it is now, the recoil from the fun would make firing useless and clumsy. If you look at gun designs and people using guns, they always have support, such as the butt of a rifle, to help reduce recoil and aid in aiming. If you look at soldiers using smg's similar to the one you drew, such as the mp5, you'll note first of all that they hold it closer into their bodies, and that second of all that these guns have a long butt/support thats designed to fit below the shoulder when firing.
hehe, sorry about the silly crit, Im just totally anal about functionality when it comes to many concepts

haha, i actually like the concept, The character reminds me of star wars clone wars(Cartoon network short series) for some reason. : P, Lots of improvement going on in this sketchbook though, i can tell you struggle a little with organic stuff, my only advice would be to keep practicing, otherwise keep on truckin'

: Dan : Yeh defintly, i was being lazy and didnt bother to try and work out the problems etc. Was just playing around.. im trying to get back into digital stuff again. Sort of like this one.

: SirGreen : Yeh i agree man, im similar to you , im picky about that kind of stuff ... but hes not actually firing you see . Anyways thanks for the tips. Im gonna try working on another painting soon.. this one is just a doss. Work one with proper forms and everything, maybe another study.

: Nuclear : Thanks again man

Some random colour of that soldier.. i dunno why.. but i love the effect of this, the whole bloom thing.

Cool stuff Andy, Some of your environments and some ship designs are pretty top notch, your anatomy is your weak point. But it looks like with practise you are improving on it. Keep at it, and keep posting, and welcome to my SBG.
