    ChaoticKnight's SketchBook ~ [UPDATE: Nov 8]

    Hello everyone.
I'm new to the community, so I'm still learning everything. I was told by a friend of mine to come here. Looks pretty sweet.
Anyway, I'm 18, going to art school, and I've pretty much been making a living for myself doing portraits since I was 15. What I really want to do, however, is empty whats in my disturbed head onto paper.

I have a few more. I used the scanner in my art classroom. The first is a psuedo western/sci fi kinda shooter dude. Im still working on it, and when its done Ill probably post it again. The second is a comic I did. O_o

Done with sharpie and micron pens. No preliminary sketches.

Done with a mechanical pencil. Love those things.

Hopefully I'll have more soon. I would love to hear any criticism or words of wisdom from more experienced artists.

Since I'm not an experienced artist you may not want to hear my opinion

But that won't keep me from posting it!

First, you seem very talented, your work looks decent to me and I have no doubt there was a reason they let you in art school . I especially like how you rendered the folds in that one picture, since I struggle with clothes, I can only envy you. The skull with the McDonalds picture seems a bit of to me. It looks somewhat too long and too flat. I have my concerns about how the yaw connects to the rest of the skull, too. You should have made clear that after the teeth comes nothing, now it lookes like the yaw is part of the skull instead of connected with it, hope you get what I mean. The pic's great though. The best you postet yet. (correct me if I'm wrong)

And, since you draw portraits since you are 15 for a living I'm expremely interested in seeing some examples!

Thanks for posting! hopefully Ill have more soon.
I am currently unable to get most of my portraits online, and some of them are on sale so I have been advised not to post them. I will, however, try to provide some camera-taken pictures of some of them.
I will be posting more sketches later today.

Hopefully Ill get more viewers soon.
Anyway, since faust wanted to see some of my portrait work, here is an in-progress work that I never quite finished of Captain Jack Sparrow. I started it when I was 16 and kinda just went on to other stuff.

So please post your comments, and lemme know what you think.

    Talking

your Johnny Depp one is dope. And so is your very first one. But you might want to practise some color theory, cause your photoshop image doesn't even come close to the other two.

    keep practising! Good start.

    Cheers, Adam

But I digress. Nice work, especially with the Druid. Looking forward to seeing that one when its completed.

great work here, but something about the druid throws me off. There is a subtle lack of symmetry in his face that I think creates a slight distracton for the piece. Good start though, can't wait to see more!

I noticed that too, but im not sure how to fix it.
I swear I didn't, ( ) but it looks likes I copied Blizzard's female night elf for the top portion of the face and drew the bottom part completely different with a beard. O_o I'll see what I can do about that.

When My scanner's available in the classroom today, I'll edit this post with more sketches.

I entered this into last week's C.O.W. Just Thought I'd add it in to my Sketchbook.

Starting tuesday I won't have a scanner anymore, So I'll either work directly from photoshop or wait until I get one of my own in order to post.

cool stuff you got going on chaotic. I like the undead priest pic, and I dig the colors in that wolf.

Not having a scanner is not an excue for not drawing though.. you're gonna have a massive update when you get another one, right?

    Heheh.

blankslatejoe: Its never an excuse, your right. Im working on about 3 things freehand in photoshop right now. When I get my own scanner, (Money issues im finishing highschool and going to college right now) I'll be able to post all of my sketches if I was so inclined. I was using my commercial arts teacher's scanner for all of those, and she needs the computer too. :/

Chaos Eidolon: Thanks! I may or may not finish it. I know alot of people who live around me would probably buy it or prints of it if I did, but Im in the middle of three paying portrait jobs at the minute, so I'm trying to do that, learn 3dsMax7, post stuff in the C.O.W. every week, and complete a possible illustration for a novel. Plus, I did the depp when I was 15, so I'd probably find so many mistakes in it now that I'd Start it over again .

It seems to me the stuff from in your head is a whole lot more 'correct' anatomically than the stuff that isn't -- mainly talkin bout the anakin pic here.. proportions in his face just don't seem right.. his nose seems over-long if you know what I mean?

I absolutely love the macdonalds executive at the beginning.. amazing!

    captain jack

hey yoru picture of captain jack sparrow is looking really good, you shoudl defiently finish it. It looks like you do well in the way of portraits so I'd like to see more of what you can do with people's faces sometime with your character you're doing for warcraft the undead preist what is he going to be standing on? it looks like he may be on a rock or something odd as to the placement of his feet going downwards not sitting flat. Just curious, keep posting more

    Thanks for posting!

sixBlade: "Stuff" meaning the stuff I don't use reference for that comes completely out of my imagination, or the stuff that I don't use reference for that comes from memory? I know his nose is too long but eh, I guess he's Arnold Skywalker, long lost brother to Anakin with the nose from his father's side of the family.

Sems: Thanks! More and more people are telling me to finish it. Perhaps I will. I can't scan that one tho! Talk about a mess... O_o
For the priest I was hoping to have the robe below the cut-off. He was going to be on my buddies guild site, and if it had a background, I'm afraid it would become way too busy with all the detail thats already in him.

This was for the Hill stomper C.O.W., but I didn't finish it in time .
