Exclamation Sketch Trade!!! (now with nudity)

Ok here's the premise kids. I got a couple friends together (in this case prostate sunrise, flex mathews, helium macaroni, and steak-tron) and we decided to do a sketch trade. We each do a sketch of a character/creature and each of us does our take on the other guys sketch. Sounds cool you say? That's cuz it is dammit! Anyway, what you'll see below is the preliminary sketches, and the finished ones will be coming in 3 weeks (June 15th, right guys? )

If you want to join in the fun, grab your own partner(s), set your own deadlines and post em here! I humbly request that if you do, please spend some effort and don't post any 10 minute scribbly thing. If not for me, then do it for the children.

Anyway, here are the sketches that'll start this thing off.

    Groover McNab

    Prostate Sunrise

    Flex Mathews

    Helium Macaroni

    Steak-tron

Too bad my friends are boring traditional artist working only with abstact stuff, flowerpaintings or sculps. Those old farts are only half as good ( if even) as you guys!

Hey thanks Fellah. I hope I didn't give the impression that we were all somehow geographically close and doing this in a room or something, cuz we're pretty much spread out over the map. If you don't have friends close by, PM some forum members and join the fun.

I hope that Groover also didn't give the impression that we were friends either.. because I can't stand him.

What a great exercise! Man... if only I had friends...

I may be a little confused, though. There isn't much that is common among these. Was there a theme or some other guidelines?

Awww. Was that not you crying over the phone right last night, pouring your heart out after a particularly sad episode of 7th heaven?

dogfood - Maybe I didn't do a good job of explaining this. There isn't really a theme. The point is I thought it would be cool to see how someone else would draw your character and how you would draw someone else's. These are just the preliminary sketches and then we each have to draw our version of the other 3 which will be posted in a couple weeks.

you mean, everyone posts one original character, and then the other three peeps have to interpret it their way?

Yes. Thank you for putting that more clear and concisely than I managed to. You are a poet.

OK, let's stop acting like it's a junior high dance. If anyone wants to do a sketch swap, I'm in.

Everyone should draw the big breasted evil dragon woman from the evil thread recently.

Fun idea, I need to make some of these 'friends' you speak of, so I too can get free art.

Sounds good. If someone else wants to join (Carnifex?), we should be able to handle one more and let's try to get the original sketches in by tomorrow. Everyone submits one character and we all give our interpretation of each of the other's.

Do we want to start another thread (instead of wholesale cluttering of Groover's as we've already been doing)? Let's plan on e-mailing the pics to one person and kicking it off by tomorrow.

Don't worry about cluttering the thread, it's open. Feel free to post them here if you like. I think it will be easier to look at everybody's work that way. I'm hoping this thing grows like the New Media coloring book and the other cool threads in this section.

coolcoolcool. Let's keep things here, but still try to post the sketches from one person (it seems much easier to corral the sheep if you collar 'em before heading to the movies).

How's that for a mixed metaphor?

    You promised you'd NEVER TELL!

"friends" is kind of a loose term here. You just need 1 or more people to group up, each make a sketch, trade those sketches to each person, and redesign each of them yourself (not counting the one you originally made). Just ask anyone from the forums. It just so happens that Groover, Flex, Prostate and I know eachother personally.
