Hey guys just letting you know that I'm heading out of town to the east coast for my uncles wedding. Won't be back until late tuesday night. Will have work to post when I get back.

Thanks for the crit guys especially you faust, man you are correct with a lot of things, I'm actually decent at drawing folds, just trying different things, cough and being lazy cough, faces are a challenge for me, going to slow down and post more quality ones. Thanks again guys for your crits. see you when I get back

Dile: thanks man, grats on the 4 stars man, keep working hard,

Faust: Man I don't know what to say, I really appreciate you taking the time to critique my work, its really good to get a reality check from others, especially from the a ssg, thanks man, I'm really motivated now, you keep working hard also.

WhiteC: Thanks for the tip man, I'm definitly going to be working on my tonal values.

Bloodbane: Thanks for stopping in man, very much appreciate it, yeah I'm need to work on my values. Thanks for the feedback man, will return the favor.

OK its been awhile since I've updated, the trip to Virginia was cool, got to see my parents and relatives on my dads side of the family. It was good to get away from the computer for awhile. I've been back for a little while, my summer class has started, I'm taking a head drawing class, (Damn do I need it). The cool thing is the class has only 5 people including myself, so the instructor should be giving us more feedback. Thrusday was my first day of class, it kicked my ass. We worked specifically on features of the face, (nose, eyes, mouth, forhead) working on trying to see the planes on the face, breaking it down to the basics. I'm understanding the concepts, but man its definitly work. I'm going to work my ass off to get as much out of this class as I possibly can.

First few pages are creature doodles I randomly put on paper, following the marker sillouette creatures, that was a fun exerscise going to be doing a lot more of those. Then some ok portraits trying to apply some of what I learned class.

These are looking great. the thumbnails show a good variety of shapes.
the portraits are great looking also. But try to add some values in the eye socket. Especially for the third one, looking at the shadow under her nose.
The last one is looking great =)
    Keep it up !

Whoa, missed a lot of stuff on here. Great new portraits! I agree that the eye sockets/pupils could use a bit more consideration, also the mouths don't really need to be outlined like they are. But great work all in all, a lot of finesse goin on! Keep at it!

    Hey Darktwin

Muchthanx for the comments in my sb. Got some great stuff here dude, liking your line in the first and your play on shapes with the silhouettes. First portrait is my favourite - really captured a feel for her personality. reminds me of Christine from The Phantom of the Opera movie. great work, dude, keep'em coming.

    cheers

Nice stuff man. I really like the values in the portraits, your gonna have to give me some tips on shading . Also, I'm still liking the silhouettes. These seem much improved over the ones in the group SB, I'd have to say cleaner.

    Stine:Thanks Stine,

    Recursive_End:
Thanks for the crit man, will work on that on my next portraits.

    Dile:Thanks man,

    darkchild:
Thanks man, will be checking out you sb also

    guitarjames:thanks dude

Andy P:Thanks for the feeback man, will work on those things in future portraits.

    demented:
np man, your work just keep getting better and better, thanks for stopping in.

    Wolfbane:
it will be done Kjartan, you will be seeing more enviorments and creatures, thats for sure

    Derram:
of course man, I will be glad to give you tips on shading, my shading technique still needs a of work, the goal you want when shading is to unify the object of character your rendering so it looks correct to the eye. Definitly look at alot of peoples sb here, many have really intersting techniques that work really well.

Ksama:thanks man, glad you like the sculptures, cool I do mor anatomy studies also , thanks for stopping in.

Well here are the siliouettes that I did a few days back, and some creatures that have been designed around them.

this one was created from #9 on the first page

This one from #13 from the first page

Wow, the last one (the only one I didnt seen before)
is amazing , im really loving the concept, and you should really try it out
in Photoshope Darktwin! I like the organic / tech feeling I get from it!
like as if it was metallic, but still a creature! great one!
Keep produce those concepts, they are very inspirational!

dude that's awesome. the play on shape has really resulted in some awesome forms and designs. shading is nice and solid, lines are flowing well, describing alot on their own. think i should definitely also give this a try - this excercise rocks. killer works dude, post more.

    ciao

demented: Yeah I'm glad you like, yeah I would suggest everyone try this exercise out, it can only help. .

ok now here is a study of my head drawing professor, Zhao Ming Wu, he's simply amazing, Although the drawing was done in using charcoal, Vine, I studied his piece and technique using graphite. I spent about 2 hrs working on this.

Your last head drawing is different from the others. You are improving fast .I envy you for that teacher .The last head seems more 3 dimensional and the planes are more readable.Let's see what you will do

    ashrumm: Thanks bro

Stine: thanks, yeah likewise with your portraits good to see you mixing it up also.

Diego: appreciate it, yeah my teacher is pretty sick(as in badass, just watching him class draw along side us (students) is amazing. The sad thing is his site hasn't been updated in a few years I believe he has a lot of work new work to show on his site still, but he's busy with 6 gallaries right now. The man is doing quite well for himself.

heartbeat: Thanks, yeah this head drawing class is awesome, I'm going to grab as much as I can from it, hell I'm paying enough for the class, going to eat all the crumbs I drop on the ground also .

Dile: thanks man, I'm trying to keep up with you.

Andy P: Yeah I agree that he's badass, man you should see him work, its freaking amazing, and thanks, likewise with your work.

a little update portrait study I did before heading off to bed, class was pretty good today, will be posting some of my work from class soon and more concept stuff till then.

I really like the values range in the face nice profile!! You could have darkened the hair a bit more to create more of a contrast with the hair and face but it is fine as is.

Seeing these is really quiet inspiring and disheartening at the same time! Theyre wonderful to look at, making me realise SO much more that a lifedrawing class would help me 10fold. I realise now that there is no substitute for the real thing...

I feel really baffled as to why the fuck its only just clicked now, after almost 8~ Months of "Serious" interest in drawing and always seeing people say "Draw from life". Boy am i glad i clicked on this thread at 2:30am. Lovely stuff.

    Really.
