freakin amazing improvement - can hardly believe it. The skin tone has been awesomely emulated in that portrait of your brother, and you've convinced me to try the sillhouette exercise with that last creature. Definitely gonna check back here often, have a bunch of stars mate - you deserve them.

    ciao dude, post more soon

    i agree with thegnoll
you really need to study some animal anatomy. hell, apply what you know of HUMAN anatomy to your creatures and you'll do better than that. no offence, but i just cant comprehend the jump in quality here, your potraits (the recent ones) are amazing, absolutely georgous. but your creatures are like a 4th graders drawings.... seriously, im not trying to offend you. im just being as blunt and honest as possible because i can clearly see that you can do amazing work...in other areas at this moment....but im not an expert.
all i know is that if you draw a HUMAN on all fours it would look more like animal anatomy than what you've done here. *but their sillohettes are awesome!
anyway, good luck with that. and i truly hope i haven't offended you. that was not my goal.

it seems to me like you learn by copying....as in looking at a photo and reproducing it on paper.
try doing that with animals, environments, or whatever else you plan on drawing. google it first, get lots of reference.

DerMidlet:thanks man, see you at the next workshop

    Ksama:Thanks

    Ferg:
Yeah, I still need to work on that, blocking in the eyes are ok, but I think I still need to suggest more detail in the eyes even if they're in complete shadow, instead of looking like black holes.

demented:thanks man, just trying new things out, thats how we grow as artist also. Will be checking out your sb for those sillouetes.

    Denysuik:
Thanks man, yeah I do, but I really like to leave the hair simple, I don't care about getting each strand of hair placed right. My focus is the face. But I do need work on the hair for the simplistic qualities I'm going for. Thanks for stopping by.

    blanquish:
Thanks man, yeah I had to use a shade stick working on my blending techniques.

kungfu hampster:thanks man, well with the creatures I'm not really focused on values, especially since I'm drawing those from my head. For me the creature concepts are about creating something interesting from the basic silloute. Not saying they're perfect or anything like that. For me they're mental exercises, I will work more to suggest the value, rather than leaving a few hatch lines here and there. Thanks for stopping in.

Complete2:No you didn't affend me at all, I like your opinion, it really makes me think about my approach of different concepts and whatnot. I will work on my animal anatomy. I wish I had a dog laying around here, that would be awesome. But you make some really good points about my creatures, they don't really look natural, which I know, but its good to hear from fellow artist. Thanks again for your crit man. Crits like yours is the reason I love CA.

Thank you everyone for stopping in,

Here are some nose studies from the bridgeman book just trying to get down the basic construction of the nose.

I can honestly say that I think your portraits are getting better and better, I think your shading stands out as particularly strong.

    Hope to see more.
