uhg . . . . that's the sound of me comming in my pants. those are ridiculously amazing. the style, the atmosphere, oh god, I think it just happened again. i need to go clean up.. . okay I'm back. I would love to see more colour added to the dark tone of those first few pictures. a lot of black, and a few colours, try adding a slight bit of zing.
so you win an award. it's called the Conqueror award. it is only awarded every so often. here you go. congradulations, you're amazing. period.

    These are fantastic.

I had a question for you.

How do you start your characters? Thumbnails? Research ideas in books, internet?

And I have problems with costume design. Do you own books or research before hand on what costumes the characters are going to wear? Or do you go with the flow and let the outfit come to an end by itself?

great great work. i like your colors especially.
one little thing - your women all look so....BIG `round the breast area..
i mean - i like tits, they`re wonderful, really. but you could draw them
sized-down a bit. at least for some of your gorgeous babes.

anyway - and again - great art work.

    geez,
i really like all of these.
    especially the blue one.

i tried extra hard to find a crit:
on the second girl, her leg doesnt appear to connect to her hip on our left.
the hand conceals it, but if it didnt, it would be a little off.

Thank you everyone for the great replies.
I have survived E3 and looking forward for the next one.
ConquerorBen- WOOHOO~ thank you for the Conqueror award. I would like to thank my family and my fellow artists for this great award

Ismail- I'll try and post some process when I get some free time away from work.

Kgb- Well, I do alot of research...I'll spend about 1/2 day or even more doing research. Then I do pages of thumbnails before moving on to a final design. I like to spend most of my time exploring ideas and think of the final rendering as a bonus I get after a hard work.

ION- Sorry, I'm not related to Tom Jung...I spend about 3-4 hours each depending on the detail.

Chuck,mate- Thank you, and about the tits...I totally agree with you but theres nothing I can do about it...it's up to the art director to decide how big the chest goes.

Obi-one- Thanks, I'll posting some more stuff soon.

DSillustration- Thank you for the crits I was aware of the mistake but it was too late to fix it. You don't get too much time when you are in production.

Gregory Wohlwend- Yes the same Sammy but Guilty Gear was developed by an outside developer.

rockdraw- Thanks, I'm not allowed to tell you how much I earned and that's a personal question ...but I'm more happy with my current salary working on feature films. I got the job from an interview in Art Center.

    izisilver- Thank you very much.

Hope I covered everyone...and thanks again for all the great replies.
Also, please check out my other threads http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=44665

Some very nice work here - these are all finished to a very high standard. If I was to be ultra-critical I'd say that a lot of your poses seem to be quite stiff, and although your colour work does a good job of bringing the characters to life, it can't entirely mask the rigidness of some of the poses. Speaking from my own experience, it's tempting to rely on just a handful of basic poses when designing characters but although this means the process is simpler, you're gestures become less expressive and a little flat. Plus, you don't expand your repertoire. At least, that's what I've been finding about my own work. My apologies if I'm being presumptuous.

Also, I think that white secondary light source works well in some pics and not so well in others. Maybe try experimenting with different lighting.

Sorry if this seems negative, but crits are generally more useful than relentless praise.

Look forward to seeing more from you.

    Ta, Nick.

oishiiniku- Thank you for the crits, I appreciate your comments and always welcome...
In defense of my works, the poses are kept very simple because this are not intended as an illustration pieces or to impress anybody with it.
They are used as concept art work given out to the modellers along with the turnarounds and reference packages.
It is best to keep the poses simple and frontal so the modellers can have a clear idea of the characters instead of guessing how it looks with some crazy pose.
I have to agree with you about the reflective lights but then again it is just to pop the character from the background so it is clear for the modellers.
This paintings were meant to be seen by in-house modellers to help them understand the characters.
So they might be a little stiff or the lighting might be off but given 2-3 days to design a character from scratch this is my best way to express my idea fast and clear.
As a concept artist getting your idea fast and clear is your primary goal.

Ismail- Thanks, I'm going through my old stuff so I can post some WIP pics.

cateaic- yeah, it was lots of fun working on the project, this was the interior for the lounge/club, I've also worked on the patio and the main gambling area so I'll post them soon.

Okelvin- Thank you, the game was looking pretty sweet at E3...Capcom's going to publish it. Scott Robertson's Studio Press is working on an art of book and you'll be able to get your hands on it in ComicCon. Heavy Metal is also publishing a comic starring two of my characters; Tala and Cassidy. So keep a look out for them.

    Sunny- Thanks alot my friend

hurricane- what's wrong with pornstars?? besides I went to school in Woodland Hills-Capital of Porn

accdpride- HAHAHAA funny I know who you are.

    Odds- Dreamy...isn't it?

Diego- Thank you for the nice comments.

Gilead- Gald that you like the babes... and their boobies.

alti- Thanks, he is a WW2 era vampire slayer commando so he's got that stake granade.

Thanks all for such a nice comments and crits.

    Cow

    Hi,
those I prefer are n.5th and the last one. The 5th char has a good position, dynamical, and I like the way you contrasted it : shoulders clearer than bground, then hands darker. But girls have anatomical issues, I think : Their abdomens are 1/3 too short, and in the 4th pict, the girl's shoulder is too high and too big, detached from the rest of her body.
I guess you don't have much time in production, as you said before, so these remarks will be for the next serie...
    Good luck.

Lot's of great stuff here wazabi. Although i think that your last character is some what "unconnected" to the scene, doesn't feel like someone is chasing him, and has kind of a stability issue. He's running that's obvious, but it looks as if he's going to fall down.
