the son of 2 new pieces

The first one is an editorial piece I did for D Magazine, and the other is a piece I did for myself.

Great work! What medium are they?

The only crit I have is that the perspective on the sentinal's face is a bit off. Also, the rays coming out of his eyes are moving off at strange angles.

    anigav-Actually I'm 11
bluefooted-They are oil. What specifically do you feel is off with the perspective of the sentinel? And I pushed the angle of the beams for compositional reasons. thanks for the crit.
Evildisco- thanks, here are links to bigger versions here and here
Danilo-I wanted the feeling that he was stepping up onto the edge, I guess it does not read like that.

    that wolverine rocks!
The sun and the highway/bridge in left top corner remind me of the Scream.

Very nice. Actually I think it does look like he's standing on the edge.

Please stop by my new Anatomy Sketchbook and critique the hell out of it.

That Wolvie one is sweet, Erik! Love the angry pallette. And his expression is wicked.

One of the things I'm not real sure about in that one though are how the folds are indicated. All the folds and wrinkles seem very round, very large, and with unusually sharp creases (on the pants for the last one). Overall, I just don't get a solid feel for the material. If we're looking at something like spandex, it tends to form more, smaller, straighter bunches in the fabric where it gets slack. If it's more leather it has a stiffer feel and creates either rolling folds or bends for some harsh overlapping folds. Basically, I'm just not feeling that the folds and creases accurately represent the material of his outfit. Moreso on the legs than on the chest.

    yo e,
i'm enjoying both of these pieces. considering the deadline, that first one is nutty! On the wolverine piece, would we see more of his pectoral muscles? His torso seems rather tubelike to me, and I enjoy comic character illustrations where they look more realistic (rather then 50millionmuscleseverwhere), but I have a feeling those muscles would be out a little to give his chest a little more definition. still, dope to the max!
