    Question A question about textures

I'm working on a series of naturalistic textures to be used in Photoshop as effects layers and would like some advice.

So far, I'm working with high-res scans of toothy papers like reeves BFK and cold press illustration board. After inverting the colors, I crank the levels and remove the darker values with select color. Then I change the layer property to Linear Light and edit the blend options until I get the depth and coverage I like.

My question is; Is anyone else doing this, and if so, do you have any suggestions for refinement and/or experimentation?

To see a sample of what I'm talking about, check out my post here:
