Another from the "What does everyone look like thread," -- a pic of Molly.
I've got to get better at taking photos...
Whoah, that last one I REALLY like the translucent edges on it. Especially that back appendage draping over the pole; really cool. Your oils are lovely too; they've got sort of a washed out quality that says to me 'this is the way it is'. Especially the middle one; its soft, like there's dust hanging in the air. Great stuff! *subscribes* More please =D

Sirio_Brozzi, MeTaL-Mike and MsMaverick - thanks
I didn't take this one to the CHOW because I felt that ultimately it was sub-par. That said, my thought with the character was that if she was a princess, she probably wouldn't be doing much of the fighting herself - instead she would be commanding her supporters in the uprising.
had some helmet issues with the marine guy. The original appearently looked too much like Sarg or Chief or whatever from Halo 3. Reworked it some. Still needs some noodling.
Added the orginal line art. I don't have my scanner hooked up right now, so I used my digital camera to shoot the photo and it didn't clean up very well. So I ended up getting creative with tonal difference - you can see what I did in the final.

Chow 91 pencils.
Looking at it now that it's uploaded, her elbow needs to be readjusted so the rest of her arm intersects her shoulder correctly.
Hey Shane! Long time!! Shit... I suddenly saw your avatar and remembered I haven't paid your SB a visit in... well.. hell if I know how long... Just wanted to stop by, say hi and drop and asspat Good stuff! Dig the Antagonist! And your lines are looking sweet as ever... hehe... /shameless plug: I've actually updated my SB now... drop by if you wanna take a gander... hehe /shameless plug
Whats up brotha. Haha. You need an update. ahh...what can i say, i do too.
Anyways, thank you for your comments on my Acrylics. I really appreciate that coming from you. Yeah, they take time to figure out, i have been using them for a while, and i generally like to paint really fast anyhow. Most of those you see were done in 1 - 3 hrs. So, the drying time doesn't effect me, i usually end up using a blow dryer to make them dry, haha!
So i was looking at your painting, the one you have in the avatar. I really like it man. The alien is top notch, the soldier, i think could use a bit of work. I think you should push it further. I think you should also add a background, like a whole scene behind them, basic, like a landscape or something. It would add a bunch more depth to it and make the image pop even more. What do you think??
Thanks for stopping by my page!
I never thought attempting to get 10 simple faces done in a weeks' time would be so freakin' difficult. I'm still down by two - need two self portraits, one from life. It's not from lack of desire or even trying to shirk the assignment. Day job projects have ballooned and instead of spending 8 hours at work I'm spending 10 - 12. (I work for Sound publishing, doing ads and paginating for two papers, and with the Holidays coming up and a passive-aggressive ad rep, things have gotten a little tense).
anyway, enough blather. Artwork:
(Shot with my digital camera)
First page of faces, done in sequence from left to right.
the first one is a travesty, done without reference as a warm up. The monkey was the last one on this page.
Got my stride here
Oh, and here's "Demon Princes," my cat scruff. When she uses her Demon Princes Voice she sounds like Tim Curry from Legend. Otherwise her normal voice is something akin to a Disney cartoon. Don't ask. I'm fried from work and thought it was funny.
These are really great, the practice has done good things for you (still waiting on the SPs though )
The first face isn't as bad as you make it out to be, it has some interesting stylization, but you need to get away from that tendency in your work for a bit, you can go back when you've got the other stuff down again.
The second face (the girl) and Bill Murray are quite well done, and nice to see how you can get the face captured quickly and simply (as with the girl) and also how you can get into some serious rendering (as on Bill). His forhead may be a bit too large, though.
On the second page, #7 is my favorite of all of these. That eye is stunning, maybe even haunting. I want to see more of her.
The last one has a great design, he black square framing her and symmetrical composition are top notch.
I'm with demon princess on this... go draw!
...aaand Holy Crap. I'm speechless - looks like my other study somehow violated photobucket's terms of service. Wow. never had that happen before.. the gd prudes - it's a freakin' drawing for pete's sake.
Anyway, thank you CA for allowing us to attach images
Her waist is too thin, but just slightly on the right.
Some excellent progress so far... (where are those SPs, though?)
The first one I like the way it is, really... I just want to see the other hand finished. I like how the form almost becomes abstract shapes.
The woman bugs me (apart from the hand thing I mentioned earlier) because she looks too long -- I think it's because her head begins too high which makes her whole torso/trunk look too narrow and long.
The last guy came out well, only the arm on the left (his right) looks much shorter than the right one (his left) and his face feels too wide on the left side. The rendering is stellar though, I especially love the belt.
More now, please k thanks.
Oh, yeah... dude, you like, totally rawk!
someone needs a big scanner good pencils and oils as of late, mate. keep it up!
love those studies man,
I hadn't been in here in a while, you got some really cool stuff man-you should definitely update more
