Some pretty cool stuff here Apollo. I especially like the way you are able to convey expressions in your characters. I'm also one for cartoon characters, which seems to be a large part of your style. I don't really have any comments beyond what the others have said already, so just keep it up!

...and we're back. thanks for hanging w/ us. i got a comission that was due friday (haha, for the first time i got done BEFORE deadline...as opposed to dead on so i haven't had a lot of time to sit and sketch. took the gf to a medical center today, she has crazy bad poison ivy anyhoo..there was an irritating fishing program on while i was sitting there and it inspired me to sketch a bit...

    Dig It!

I like your style. I find it more intriging to see a new world on paper. I believe any somwhat talented artist can imitate life.

The only crit I would give is the one that you have already given yourself. Environment to set the scene and anatomy and shading to bring to life.

    Good work.

a few weekends ago i was on a trip to chicago and spent my time in the back of the van doing gestures of vehicles as we sped past them...wow, i learned a TON. really was able to get down to the core of what their forms were about. i'll spare you the indecipherable scribbles from the 20 pages or so i filled...but today i took a break to try and draw a SUV. it was going well so i decided to thow some gouache on as well. only problem is...almost all of my gestures are from the back! welp, one thing at a time right?

Nice cartoon style you have there, and good job with the gouache painting with the SUV study. I see a Hallmark quality to your work that is very marketable. Keep it up.... hangin', to the side, whatever...

ugh. i got home from work last night and was so frustrated about my development as an artist. it just seems like i can't grow fast enough and i don't have the time to dedicate to painting that i would like. i really look forward to the day when my only job is to do art...not 40 hours a week of something to pay the bills then 20 on top trying to get better at the gifts God has given me. don't get me wrong, i love my job and it is a real blessing in my life...i'm just really anxious to do more art for $$...anyhoo...in my fit of frustration last night i spent 2 hours painting. this is graphite, followed by black india ink, followed by gouache and a little acrylic white on top to help some edges. i'm really happy w/ it...wish i could paint this well all the time, maybe i should get upset more often

Yay! A break in the schedule so I got to spend some time this morning sketching...I've been inspired by the Dragons Thread (check it out, there are some amazing concepts there!)

so here's my dragon. i was thinking about how dragons could be used as beasts of burden and i came up w/ this peice. gouache, graphite, ink, marker, and white out pen.
