    Re-Design Activity (#5 Legendary Creatures)

The Deal: Every week I'll post a different subject matter: comics, cartoons movies, etc. You have one weeks deadline to create re-design concepts on any aspect of the topic (characters, landscapes, vehicles, etc.) You may post sketches to finished work.

    The Rules:
1- Try to keep image posts together (instead of sketches everyday, post all
    on one day)
    2- 800 x 600 pixels or smaller
3- please post work by the deadline.
4- please do not post every little doodle, unless presented in one image
5- Try to keep to the feel of the original
6- you can update your work at anytime
7- You can join anytime, but can only work on current activities. Do not post
    for old activities please.

Hope everyone enjoys this, wanted to do it for awhile. . .feel free to message me any ideas or topics you might want to see.

Dude! I've been trying to remember Niddler's name for like ten years! I used to have the action figure and I loved it.

    Great idea for an activity!

I should have some up later today. . .

Aberrant- I really like this painting of KONK, my only problem with it is the lumpy muscular masses on his side, but it might be too early to tell where you're going with this. I really like the bone peg leg when I saw the sketch.
Can't wait to see this done.

    It's now later today . . .

I hadn't planned on doing much more with his side. What problems do you see with it? I thought the legs were weak (don't know why you like the peg, I hate it), I would've actually redrawn them before I started painting if this image were real important. Instead I tried putting them in shadow and hiding them with the cleaver.

I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more.

His side is fine, it just looks bubbly. . .like there's chunks of something stuck to him. I like the leg, mainly because the original was boring- and I thought this was helping with the mood of the character. I think the legs are fine.

Hey this is fun. I like this thread.
I almost got caught painting all day at work though.
This is my version of Konk. He changes his leg when he finds a new body.

Nice, I guess I'm not the only one that thought konk was the most interesting character they had. I like your 'peg' leg a lot more than mine.

I was looking around and I found this on the DC comics website.

    http://www.dccomics.com/features/sandman/

The first issue of ENDLESS NIGHTS is free on the net. This might be a good source, but I'm not sure if its the same series that you want us to do.

I only saw this today, and since the deadline is so close, I'd really have no time (especially when doing the necromancer pic in the other activity thread). Otherwise, I would've loved to take part in this.

I suppose there simply aren't many Sandman fans here. A shame. I would've tackled Morpheus himself... possibly the Corinthian. Oh well.

Well, for lack of participation I'm moving on to the next assignment.

Assignment # 3 Universal Studio Monsters

Description: Re-design a classical monster from Universal Studios, the following are what usually are considered classic: Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, The Invisible Man, Bride of Frankenstein, Wolf Man, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and The Phantom of the Opera. Have fun with the design and feel free to be as creative as you like.

hmm.. its very asian there, Rick. i suggest a different pair of shoes. even bigger would suit this dude, otherwise its tapers too much as your eyes run down the piece. also, keep in mind frankenstien's monster was made of different parts from different people. perhaps a better indication of that would work for you (you know, mix it up a bit). the pieces fit too well together, thats all im saying.. like the dr cut a fat dude up, painted him green and stitched him back together. id like to see a larger top portion of the head (parietal? meh im trying to remember the anatomy studies..) not necessarily the forehead but it could work if you enlarged the back of the skull.. just a suggestion.
