You've got the anime style down packed, some really expressive line work, your costumes and mechs are mighty fine, and some great still lifes and environments, keep it up!! You should really look at some Masamune Shirow stuff. He's got some great work ^_^

Here's a couple of sketches I did in baldpoint pen. For some reason I do really well sketching with this medium (if you even want to call it that). Well, let me know what you think. I really want to design some nice characters, think up a good story, and settle down for a while. I need to start moving into something more.., well, just more. I like art, and I don't want to sell my self short. I think iv'e improved a bit. Let me know what you think. (Still a long way to go.)

I dig the pieces where the poses are drawn from an angle, they feel alot less static. Overall, I relly enjoy the innocent feel of alot of your subject matter. Only crit? Work on faces, just go go go. It's hard to really nail them down, but I can see you're making some good progress!

Here are a couple more sketches. I really do draw more than I post. I need to start posting some anatomy drawings so I can get some feedback on what I am doing wrong. Well, any feedback is appreciated. Thanks,

Hey nice to see you back in the SB. Nice update. I see you've been sketching still. Thats good. I like the guy with the sword. Looks very FF-like. Love the pose on the girl. The expression on her face makes me think she's about to pass out. You're probably busy but if you get a chance check out Desert Punk anime. I watched the first disc and it's pretty good on animation and humor.

    Hey D:

I watched the first 7 episodes today of Desert Punk. It was pretty good. I will keep my eye out for more. Thanks for the comments. I noticed your doing pinups again. Well, hard to break our habits. Talk to ya later.

Man, looking at this again, I shoulda picked better colors. Those are geeross (gross). Hmm... Now that I think of it, most painters choose a set of colors to use before they start, instead of just going willie-nillie. Next time I will have to take more careful consideration, but then again, this was just a test run. Shouldn't be too hard on myself, I guess. Hmm...

Thats not so bad. Think of the old RPG games where the characters often have mismatching color schemes. Congrats on getting a copy of PS CS. Now lets see some more colors.

And yes I'm back to my pinups again.

Thanks for the nice comments Chiko

Here is a sketch I did today. Still working on getting my anatomy down. It is different working from ones imagination, or lack of, than it is from a live or photographed model.

Well, anyways, let me know what you think. Pencil doesn't seem to come out as well on the scanner.

    Thanks,

After such a long time, I have finally decided to start posting again. I work 60 hrs a week, and sometimes it gets a little difficult to find time to do this stuff, so now I am making some time. Let me know what you think.

This one I did using MS Paint, (I know... it was all I had at the time.) for my friends store. He has a Japanese Hobby Shop, and He needed a SD Robo for his Mascot. I don't know if he wants to use it though.

    Masayasu's Sketch Book - IMPROVING!!!

This on I drew today. I haven't done anything else but ink it yet. I just used a roller-ball on it, but I think it turned out OK. Not bad for not going to art school I suppose.

Here is another one, I used a roller-ball and felt tip.

    heeeeeeeey!!!!!

glad to see you back!! hope it's more of a semi-permanent thing. i like the robot, i just wonder about the color choice for the head crystal...was that arbitrary, or did you purposely want to have something different from the color scheme of the whole picture? it attracts attention, which can be good...if that's what you intended. anyway, you do well with folds, would love to see more. but, more more from you in general man! i hope work doesn't spoil your life man. you work so you can enjoy life (family, friends, hobbies). take care dude, and i hope to see you around soon. come back now, ya hear?

Hey great to see you back It's been a long... long time! What have you been up to? I'm really digging that last portrait. Great use of dark tones. I hope you are going to continue to post a bit more. I disappeared for the last 4 months as well but I'm back posting periodically. Hit me up, we should meet up and go sketching again sometime!

Here is another one I did on my break. No Ref. Proportions are a bit off, and limited hand detail. Rendering looks pretty good I think though. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Purb: It has been a long, long time since I have heard from you man. Good to hear from you as always. Yeah, I have just been so busy since I started my job a couple years ago. Also, I didn't even have access to a scanner, but finally I said, I HAVE TO START Drawing and POSTING again. I will definitely give you more, in general.

BTW, I saw you have improved ALOT since I checked on you last time. Nice Work. I wasn't sure which post to check though, since it seemed you had a few. I'll check up on you and leave a post when I get the chance.

DC: Hey, yeah I know, we are always talking about getting together, but it never seems to happen. Let me know when, I we can get together. Also, you probably don't know that I am having another baby. A boy this time. He is due in July. Well, I look forward to seeing you soon. Best regards to your Mom, and family.

    Thanks,

    M

Here is a sketch I did during my lunch break today. Let me know what you think. I think the perspective might be a bit off. It kinda looks like the person on the right was raised somehow. Anyways, any critique would be helpful.

    Hey D,

Yeah, I started by using the flat of the pencil to shade, and then started to notice the tones it made, and eventually I started to get a little more control over the method. I just used a regular No.2 pencil. Still have to work on the anatomy though. It is a constant battle. I know what I have to do though; studies, studies, studies.

    Well, take care.

ANYONE: I am having trouble figuring out why my avatar doesn't show up on the sketchbook page. I am not sure why. If anyone knows, your help is much appreciated.

Love that head on the last post! Very very nice use of tones to bring out the hair and shadows. You hand needs a bit of work Looks like you just roughed it in and left it. Maybe pull up a few photos on the internet of people playing guitar and study some of those. It's a beautiful drawing I really want to see you exploit this style more!

Thanks for visiting my thread. Wow you have developed thru out this thread you posted. The anime style makes me feel ,nostalgic it has a 80's type anime vibe to it.

Your other style is great too. That's exactly the type of style I like, and actually aiming for. A mix of anime/western. Really good stuff man.

Are all these on 8.5x11 sheets? I like that last one. You've been improving that style nicely! I think you did a way better job on the hands in this piece. I kind of chuckled when I saw this, it reminds me of some hippie chick I was thinking for your future drawings try roughing in the character first to get a good positioning on the page so you don't cut off any part of the body that you want seen. That's what I'm practicing these days. I'll start a drawing and then come find out I ran out of room for one of the arms or feet... Anyways, keep on drawing! I'm looking forward to your next postings!
