the test-2.jpg one is definately the best of the batch... It looks a little noisy around the guy, but the lighting on him is cool.

Use bigger brushes.... you've got too many scribbles goin' on.

You seem to be on the right track though I'd suggest less muscular art book looking stuff and more life-drawing. Grab a sketchbook and go out man, or at least use some random real life photos Going out is great, just sitting at a train station or cafe while drawing people and environments, keeps you from spending to much time on any given thing as well.

hey there. your anatomy is coming along nicely. i see a big improvement. your more finished pencils drawings are especially nice.
    for critique, i suggest what dCept said- use the biggest brushes possible to describe the smallest areas. or if you dont like that idea, try using your hatchmark lines to descibe the form in a more organic way, as if you are drawing the lines over a 3d form. i hope that made sense. -_-;

    Nice stuff
Just keep working on the anatomy, do more studies from anatomy books do sort of get to know the inside of the body as well, because the lack of knowledge within that field is showing through
    Keep drawing!

Good work all round. Your rendering seems to stiff for realism but great stylistically! For a more realistic approach the lines should follow the shape of the surface - flat lines for flat surfaces, curved lines for curved surfaces ect.

I look forward to your next batch.

very good update.Improvement is coming, i like those toned paper experiment.Maybe try work more on construction, anatomy is all about shapes in space, so you'd better learn them
most of all, try and slow down while drawing and rendering, seriously, it helps, i know it

    keep sharing!

    ciao

WHOOOAAA! You must have posted just as I did! I didn't see all of the new stuff. Diggin the life drawings on Brown. Those were always my favorite to do in school, but always sucked at them. That must mean I'm a masochist! hehe.
The last post has a pop culture poster feel to it. I think it has a Tokyo MIAMI VICE feel, see if you can push that further!

Looks like you're thinking more about light and how it falls... good stuff! The foreshortened leg doesn't read too well.... the thight doesn't look like it recedes in space... Also he should have a leg placed more backwards to retain his balance... Maybe you could find some good ref. from a stillframe from Gladiator or something?

Now get us an update on this one

I like the lighting in the the lastest piece! Keep working at in so we can see a smoother version. Don't forget Atomspheric lighting! (very important) I invision this guy in some sort of sewers with some sort of steamy stench rising from the ground as he looks through a manhole or something.

wakazou ^o^ I hand bound a sketchbook using nothing but brown paper. and for a school assignment I had do doodle on one page everyday until it was finished, which it is. brown paper is FUN!

the shadows look great so far on the WIP, perhaps you can even darker the arm and the leg furthest away from us?

Try, when using tonal shading or values on your linework, drawing more accurate shape and forms, sticking closer to the actual line art. But over progress is really good, face studies are varied and ncreative.

    Keep the good effort up.

kool, the gladiator dude has come on pretty well. Perhaps when your sketching in photoshop go for lighter and thinner lines. I tend to find black too strong for my liking. This way its easier to paint over the image without feeling restrained..I dunno its hard to explane sorry. I think its a personal thing though. but try it none the less

Btw I only just noticed that baby portrait. I think the rendering on it is a great improvement. Just do more!!!

Good update! Like I said on MSN... things are definitely looking better! The secondary light on the gladiator looks good! I still think you should've had a second look at that foreshortened leg... and your lines are a bit heavy.

The woman with the gun is my favorite of the bunch! More painting and less scribbling on that one
