If you want beautiful eyes, look at something beautiful.
The topic of this thread has nothing to do with my picture.
Still trying to learn how to paint better.

i'm no expert painter, but try using a hard edged brush. I've heard people say that again and again. It ends up looking less soft which would definetly suit this drawing.

The pencil version is really good. The colored one looks good so far. I like the shading on the face. I don't know if you really need to use a hard edge brush, since the shading so far looks nice and defined.
although I think you can try to use more tones for the shading around the armpit.

nice attempt so far, the drawing is nice. I'm not really enjoying the painting though. what program are you using? it looks like your using the dodge and burn tools in photoshop, not a wise thing to do when painting. always gives it a "mucky" burnt look. Rather use brushes and varying opacities and colors.. then after you have a good overall base, start to blend em together a bit.. then add some more color.. keep blending adding a bit more detail as you go. hope this helps.. it's kinda hard to explain in such short words.

Good start...the top half looks awesome and the anatomy is solid.
The leg anatomy needs work...and they look too long. Also, hes a bit off balance...the right foot needs to be brought out to the right more. Just a few tweaks =)
