Did you study ID or something, Andrew? Your machinery is some of the most believable I've ever seen.

Actually I studied animation. In animation you study exaggeration, volume, weight, composition, characterisation, expression and the importance of contrast in terms of achieving visual appeal in a very broad sense. I believe all these things really enhanced my design sense.

Most of my favourite artists and designers have animation backgrounds.

Have gone through the entire thread now. took me half an hour. Definately worth every minute though. Great stuff here man, especially fun to see an artist who masters both the soft swooshy stuff and the sharp edgy industrial designs.. I hope one day to be as flexible an artist myself.

I love the very last piece with the headgear. Awesome looking design and amazing details! For animation I would have discared it because of stiffness in neck movement though. He looks STUCK to his shoulders deluxe.

anyhow, you got me inspired. gotta draw draw draw!

    Thanks again guys.

This one was part of my thunderdome entry which I wasnt able to complete on time.

The theme was invasion and repulsion and I opted to focus on a design rather than do an illustration.

The design was to be of a craft (which is built for invading) that was powered by the Repulsion Engine below.

I doubt it makes any sense without the craft design (which isnt finished yet) but the idea is that the two fins are fitted with an array of superconductor magets and cooled with liquid oxygen that is inserted via canasters on top.

Anyway if I have time I'll complete the design.

Awesome design. I always like the colors you use. Though I think the blur on the left gun is bit too strong.

Very fine expression on her face. It's really amazing to see and realize that it is your imagination, very truthful, very real face... There is such a subtle hints on emotion, I really appreciate it. The way she pulls her upper lip up, it is an indication of pain or sorrow or suffering, and the way her brows come to center, sort of pull too, and how she closed her eyes with modest but painful effort... Wonderful, very fine... Quiet sorrow. She is heavenly beautiful too.
Really amazing things you can do with your imagination with your heart involved, I think.

About horses... well I think the fist one has front legs too small and short and an angle at which its neck with a head connects to torso looks strange, should be 10 degrees more back I think.
The second horse legs are too tall i think. might messed up in them when galloped . And angle between front legs in the top should be wider in my opinion.
I might be wrong 10000 times of course .
