    mock magic card

Decided to do up a mock magic card as a project. I think i'm suffering from card envy, as there have been alot of great card art posted here recently.

Then I put it over a random card just to see how it would look

Cool concept! I would try to punch out your shadows a bit more so that there is a little more contrast in the piece. Esp. in the nostrils, and above the eyelids, those areas could really get carved out better in my opinion.

Also, the colors in the face seem a bit muddy. Don't be afraid to use all kinds of colors in the face, our faces have all kinds of crazy shit going on in them: reds, blues, yellows, pinks, etc. But be careful not to go so far the other direction that it looks like face paint..... subtlety is the key!

very cool! I love the ill. but generally magic card art takes up the entire picture area.... maybe you could put in some more background?

nice play with the traditional card layout.
reminds me of unhinged cards (for that reason.)

i'd say work the same effect with the rest of the card, so not just the art box is being taken over by the serpent.

The card looks really nice. And going off of what eygji said, I can totally see that as a card in possibly a future un-set from magic. That's probably because the picture box isn't the traditional square box like most non-un-magic cards.

    thx for the input guys.

    - Mutton- I see what your saying, I got a copy still in layers when I get a chance I'll try and "pop" the face somemore, Right now I'm working on some revoulutionary war concepts, Its quite boring.

-Panda- your right about the ill area, I had to fudge it and match the card background to the ills edge. But I guess thats the fun part of making your own projects up, you can bend the rules a bit.

-Eygji- I've never seen unhinged cards but I'll look them up. it would be cool to have the whole thing wrapped up in a snake.

-Exus-thanks for the nice word, and again i'll be checking out the unhinged cards and some other cards for other games, seems to be a lot of card work out there.
