Well, I finally decided to do it and start a sketchbook here. The hope is that I'll get off my ass and start drawing. I don't have a scanner at the moment, so sorry for the shitty pictures. Definitely not the best way of getting stuff into the computer.
Since I'm pretty much always short on time, I'm probably going to do this in short bursts to start off with.
I wanted to start off with some background, because I can't draw to save my life, but with good reason. See, out of college, I was doing glass, so drawing was just a means to an end. Actually, it was in college for me too, I must admit. My "drawings" usually consisted of sketches in chalk on a concrete floor in the morning to communicate the process to my assistant(s) - quick n dirty was the name, accuracy not necessarily important. Because glass is such a process-oriented medium to work with, it's a good thing to practice working with it and not much else.
Now I'd like to do some drawing that's an end in itself, and what better way than to have a fine bunch of people like you folks here on CA to kick me in the ass and get me in line.
So to start off, I thought I'd show my shit sketches and what they resulted in, just so that I have enough confidence to post here again...
First one is a jellyfish - the first one I ever made.
here's what the "drawing" (using the term loosely here) turned into:
and some more:
And some more jelly sketches, which I did some glass "sketches" for out of clear to test, but don't have any photos of the glass ones...
That's about all I have time for tonight, but I'll probably post more stuff soon.
